I have been playing The Sims 4 for a few days now and there are a few changes I really hope to see implemented in an upcoming update:
.) Manually sortable inventory: player has the ability to manually sort inventory items in a less random order so that it is easier to locate fruits, vegetables, books, metals, or other items with new inventory items added to the end of the list. (The "New" flag is a nice addendum!)
.) Add "Eat" as an option for all edibles carried in inventory.
.) Modify book reading: it is confusing when reading books whether or not they are appropriate for the current skill level. You are also able to reread the book before having finished reading it completely, leaving the player uncertain whether they have gained all of the needed skill from the book. The Sims 3 books were much easier to determine if they had been read or if the player's skill was too high for the book, and you could only reread books that you had completed.
.) Greater variances in plant appearances. For their being a reported 31 different harvestable plants in game, many of them appear identical and they are less visually distinguishable than the plants in The Sims 3.
.) Bring back the Death Flower. There's a tremendous concern about my character's lifespan when repairing electrical components or debating how far he should go to arrange a cow plant sample without permanently shuffling off the mortal coil.
.) Detailed skills tabs: I think we can all agree the skills tabs in The Sims 3 should have been eventually tiered instead of crammed in a right to left overlap, so I can understand why the skills tabs weren't added in The Sims 4. I would like to see some means of seeing the skills details returned so there's a way to judge which upgrades have been learned, which recipes have been made, the quality of the creations, etc.
.) Provide a GUI option for on-screen camera camera controls. Sometimes it is easier to simply click on rotate right or rotate left than it is to continuously use the center mouse button to change the camera view.
.) Have our gardeners mentioned how much we miss the automatic sprinkler for watering our perpetually expanding gardens?
.) Military haircuts for Create A Sim: I held out hope for The Sims 3 and while the law enforcement, firefighting, and military careers were all represented, there really wasn't much for military style haircuts. High and tight, flat top, crew cut, off the collar and off the ears with no side burns would all be welcome additions to the hair choices.
Very much enjoying the game thus far and looking forward to seeing the evolution as the game expands!
