I'm going to guess this is a bug: When a Sim goes to the library to read a book, if another Sim tries to read the same book, it is unavailable. Only one copy of a book in the library with all those shelves. So two Sims in a household cannot study into cooking simultaneously, for example. With 15 bookshelves in the library. Odd.
Also, when I move a Sim into another household, their furniture does not get packed. It's gone. I tried to manually put everything in their household inventory before moving. At the new house, nothing was in the household inventory. All the career rewards, Sim-made paintings, all packed, did not arrive on the other end. I made doubly sure to not check the box to sell possessions. So Sims better start off rich, or not create anything, gain any career rewards, etc. You can't ask a Sim to move in or manually do it in the map screen or you lose everything. That is an epic fail. In-game dialog indicates that you should be able to keep items, but it does not work.
