Hey there, long time Sims player here (although I hated 3)
From my brief experience with the game I can definitely say that I will buy a copy of the game (probably just the standard one as the deluxe one seems kind of lackluster for the cost) there are so many little things I like as well as a bunch of stuff I don't like so here goes.
LIKE:
====================================
* Multitasking
* The style of the Sims (reminds me of TS2)
* Animations
* Emotions
* Sims have personalities, they seem more lifelike.
* Build Mode
* Lot-Based Gameplay (again personal preference but TS3 felt sparse even though it was so open)
* UI
* Unlocking stuff through gameplay
* Intergrated Build/Buy Mode available anywhere.
* Tons of skills to unlock and master
* Inventory System
* Aspiration System-Style rewards
* Personality + Traits
* CAS
* Mod Support
* Gallery
* Super Speed
* Modernized Game World (everyone does everything with their phone)
* Walk Styles
* Men stand up and pee and there is a pee stream! (+1 points because I wanted it forever)
DISLIKE:

* Soundtrack (a weird bridge between Sims 1 and Sims 3)
* AI (Sims don't seem all that smarter)
* Insane Clipping
* Missing Toddlers and Pools
* Missing Repairman
* Teenagers/Elders are adults but not
* No last name change on marriage (I'm guessing it's for the same-sex marriages but still...)
* Community Lots seem sparse and poorly planned almost as if added on at the last minute.
* Can't simply visit neighbors without a loading screen
* Secret worlds seem pointless (unless I'm missing something)
* Objects and Build Mode don't seem to colour match as well as they should.
* Everything is flat (terrains)
* No cars, Sims simply disappear off the lot (even the TS1, TS2, and TS3 had carpools)
* No simple normal career choices. Miss the staple careers (business, athlete, law enforcement, medical)
* Base Game yet again (no school or business or weather or pets)
* No family trees
I want TS4! But I am still very torn about it. :D
(update: I caved. I bought the game at EB Games. I traded-in a few games I didn't really want to bring down the cost)
