Overall I'm pretty happy with this game. I was one of the people who played TS3 on release day and detested it. I had no hope of this game being any good, so it's a pleasant surprise.
Things I like
- Familiar faces
- Emotions
- Multitasking
- Closed world and loading screens over a laggy and glitchy open world
- CAS
- General gameplay
- Graphics are better than in TS3
- Buy Mode (especially the search option)
Things I don't like
- There could be more familiar Sims, where are the Newbies at? Bob and Betty were my fave back in the day.
- I love what you've done with CAS, but in game graphics (though better that TS3) are still lacking a lot for 2014. There's really no point being able to make a sim with that level of fine detail when the in-game sim loses most of it and looks a fair bit different. I definitley miss the consistency of TS2 sims, where what you saw in CAS was what you got in game, no matter how closely you zoomed. You've tried to make this game more sim focused but for me this detail undoes so much of that work.
- Height for teens and adults. It's really difficult for me to find other teens for my teens to befriend because they are basically adults. On this point and with the lack of toddlers I just kind of can't help but feel like again, the remodelled sims that are supposed to be the main focus, were actually pretty lazily produced.
- No pools and toddlers. Generations were the selling point in TS2. In my opinion it's a very bold and stupid move to essentially make teens adults and remove toddlers. In this aspect I understand everybody who's saying the game has gone backwards or the people calling it 'Sims 1 HD'.
- No Alien abductions or just something weird and crazy to stumble across.
- No memories unless we make them.
- No family tree
Despite these things I am enjoying the game, but it could have been so much better. It could have blasted TS2 and TS3 from memory. There was so much more potential here, and while what we've got is great, it's still a mere shadow of what this game could have become.
