This is my second posting, because I was so upset on the first posting. I bought the Sims 4 back in Jan, in digital form. So as soon as midnight hit my area on the release date, I was able to download and play the game. I was so extremely disappointed, that I didn't play it again for a week after its release, and only after posting several bad comments on my Sims 3 site, concerning the game and reading several comment in the forums. Did I in fact force myself to go back and play it, after I had calmed down, to give it another try.
What I like:
Sims:
I honestly like everything about the Sims themselves, from creation to play style, they do have more realistic inter action within the game.
I never liked any of the hair styles in Sims 3 until they came out with the Paradise Island expansion, then I notice much better hair styles finally making its way into the game. An I hated all those premade hats and hair styles. I love the fact the children can do more, like playing instruments. And the babies are beautiful, but you can't walk around with them, or sit and nurse them. I don't believe I ever stood and nursed any of my 8 kids, nursing was a bonding experience to share with the little loved ones, it was a relaxing time, sitting loving and enjoying your new blessing. All of my 6 girls have also nursed their little blessings.
Building:
I love the new play style and easy of the building tools with rounded porches, and counters, and the upper cabinets. The moving and duplication of rooms or moving of a whole house. And the new roof tools, as a creator, I can build in half the time as before. I also love the texture of some things in the game, but not all, the walls are ok, the floors not so good, especially the carpet its the worse.
Emotions and multitashing:
I am getting use to all the new emotions, but love multitasking. The game does play very smoothly on my computer, however, so does Sims 3 if I don't let any CC's into my game.
What I don't like:
Playing:
Sims 4 is no longer a creative medium for creative players, it feels like just a game that you don't want to play for long because, taking care of bodily functions can get old and boring in any game, and there isn't a lot more to do than that.
If your Sims has a job there isn't enough time in the day to do anything good. Its hard to lvl any skills with a working Sims. Their lives are way to short. Sims should be able to do everything we wish we could do in a day, to make your dreams come true, not to make reality a game.
Working hours should be no more that 4 hours and they should make an awesome amount of money from work. To buy cool things, they should be about to have more time to lvl up skills before dyeing. Sims should be able to have the life we wish we had, to be able to do all the things we wish we had done, but life got in our way. It shouldn't be limited to reality, but offer us a wild adventure with possibilities on what life could be like.
Creative Player:
Without a color palate CAS creative players that like to create stylish clothing, walls, flooring and furniture have just been told they don't count any more.
Building:
I hate the limitations on building and no cheats:(moveobjects or constrainfloorelevation). Not being about to build L or U shape stairs, limited floor lvls 3 really, or to change the landscape levels. I could of at lease given the effect of a basement with ground lvling tool. An lit bit of living space on a little bit of a lot not able to landscape much here.
When building homes there is way to limited furniture, furniture styles and colors, I know this is a base game, and I know a lot of changes where made to make this a smoother playing game for many. But when you take away so much, EA should have made up for that in other areas of the game. Like lots sizes, furniture or clothing line to chose from. Especially since the game cost $70. I love Sims so much that I was willing to spend thousands of dollars to build the most advance computer to play it. But Sims 4 went backwards for me.
Cost:
This game is way to expensive for what you get. If I had bought an MMO game, for $70. I would have gotten crafting skills to lvls, gathering skills, adventure with a quest line, an amazing world to explore, with small cities, to call home, plus endless hours of playing. Difference races and the option to have little people and yes size does matter. No height options with the sims, is a big disappointment. Being able to make a drawf or little person would be nice, since in real life I know some. So here I feel, EA is thinking ahead of how to milk us for more money, and right now if they don't offer something else for the $70 already spent on this game I am not sure I for one will be spending any more money on Sims 4, and I am one of the Sims 3 player that bought thousands of dollars worst of expansion, stuff and worlds. So if EA doesn't want to make a Sims 5, because they feel they lost interested players in Sims 4, it's their fault. I for one will get my real life back and will be saving thousands of dollars up the road. If this game fails it's because the research department of EA didn't do much research into what the players where doing on Sims 3. There are way more creative players that keep the game going than there are players just playing sims. And creative players are looking for newer mediums and styles to improve their crafting skills, and styles. These are the players willing to spend thousands of dollars on a gaming experience we have come to love and enjoy.
World:
The world is the biggest disappointment in the game for me, there are some things I like, but most I don't. As a creative player I hate the limited lots and their sizes. I like the train effects in the back ground, I like the height effect of the sidewalks from the road. I hate not being able to walk around the world to exploring it. I hate not being able to walk up to a neighbors home without a load screen. I do however love all the NPC moving about and coming to visit.
Play style:
I was a big CAW player and love developing worlds, homes and business. I also never let any of my Sims age or dye, with the exception of the babies and children. They have been with me since the first day of Sims3. Why, because I loved lvling their skills meeting new sims, going on an adventure and letting them have a life, that wasn't possible for me, due to work, family reasons or money. And because I could feel I know them, corny right. But I have been around for 61 years. Why would I want any lease for my sims? They are a fix set of my game that I look forward to playing every day on Sims 3. I just switch between families and lvl up their skills and relationship. And I love moving all my lovely friends and families into a new world I've created, with new homes, and new neighbors to meet, and share experiences with them. So here Sims 4 has failed me big time.
The launcher and Sims Community Site:
I can't find any of the 4 homes I've posted or any of the 5 families I've posted on the Sims 4 community site, I only see the same homes and families that are always there. What is up with not having our own Page, to check on our creations, and friends creations, if you didn't want to create a new Sims Community Page then at least let us post our creations on the Sims 3 page. If there are creative programmers out their creating CC, I should be able to open a launcher and be able to monitor any unwanted CC's that will make my game glitch up the road. I am scare to download anything from the Community site because of this. Having to go thru the forums and endless communications, including my own is to time consuming, to get the answers I am looking for. If I had a problem in the past I posted it on my page, and one or more of my wonderful friends on my list could help me, and there it was the answer right under my question. I don't know how to go about seeing which of my friends have the Sims 4 to befriend as a result of this. And I am not able to make new friends, I have a facebook account but its only for family use. My Sims site is for friends with a share interest in gaming. So frustrated here.
I hope with all my heart if EA would like more of my money, they will right the wrongs, and lesson to the players, I hope they are paying someone to have to read all these community posting and having to report them to the heads of EA. I hope in the future for Sims players they do more research before designing any more expansions, stuff or worlds, what we expect in a game that we have come to love and make a big part of our lives. Sims was originally designed to be an building tool. And EA needs to touch base with the original design of the game and players.
I am a terrible writer and speller, so for that I am sorry if my grammar is terrible here. I am an artist at heart.
