Breaking news: Tigress Maharani escapes from Sulea Tiger Sanctuary! At Sunday evening at around 550pm our tigress named Maharani took a leap of 10 feet to land herself with a grip at the chain-link fence of the enclosure moat from where she was able to escape from the sanctuary. It was later found out that Maharani was instigated by a balloon hurled at her by visitors from the viewer gallery. In an attempt to jump at it, she took the leap and climbed successful the 12 ft wall.
Our Expert team lead by the curator rushed to the spot within no time and found the tigress near the sanctuary at the monument plaza sitting and playing with said balloon.
As per Disaster Management Protocol (DMP), we prioritized the safety of our visitors and started the evacuation through all emergency exits at the sanctuary. A team of keepers was stationed at the monument plaza to keep an eye on Maharani and contain her from moving away into the town of Koh Sahpa.
Immediately our director and veterinarian head rushed to the spot with full rescue equipment. The team was successful in keeping the tigress movement limited to the tiger sanctuary neighborhood. She was then shown the way in towards her enclosure to which she responded positively and moved back to the sanctuary. Immediately the gates were closed by the officials and Maharani was secured without the use of a tranquilizer.
No casualty or injuries were reported. The animal had no injuries and was safe with little sign of stress. She is doing good and is healthy now.
