Please please please please please let there not be horses wandering through every world, all over my yards, along my downtown streets. I just can't with that again.
I’m hoping that they’ll do like werewolves, and if you choose, contain them to the pack world. - SEREFRAS3 years agoLegendI don’t think we’ll have horses wandering in every world.?
However, I do so hope that we can have horses in:
Windenburg
Henford
Brindleton Bay
Glimmerbrook
Forgotten Hollow
Oasis Springs
Strangerville
Sulani - The fact that they separated different types of farm animals and made them different packs irritates me. I want to be excited, but I am not at all, because The Sims just feels like a cheap cash grab now. We had cats & dogs in one pack, then in another we have cows, llamas, chickens, foxes, and rabbits.. now we need a third for horses, goats, and sheep? It's just depressing at this point.
I understand why they do it, but as someone who has played The Sims since the day the original came out, this has become such a slap in the face. - atreya333 years agoLegend- horses are part of the family. In the article on sims community it states 'form special bonds with majestic horses that are customizable members of your family' So does this mean they take up a slot in the family. If so, then I really hope the sims team expands the maximum family members. They did expand family size in the sims 2. You could have up to 8 human sims in a family, up to 6 pets in a family and 12 members in total. So without mods you could create a family of 8 humans and 4 pets or 6 humans and 6 pets.
- baby sheep and goats are cute but I really hope they grow up eventually. It only makes sense for them to not stay babies forever.
- I wonder how nectar making differs from juice fizzing. This is mainly curiosity at the moment but since both are making drinks I hope they differ enough
- I am worried how this pack integrates with other worlds. Will we be able to ride horses in other worlds? Will we see horses in other worlds. I agree with @SERVERFRA that it would make sense to see horses appear in some worlds but not in all
- Another pack with exclusive items for early buyers. This is becoming an irritating habit. This is the fourth EP in a row using this pushy tactic. I really dislike this tactic. I think my sims will be stuck with the existing rocking chairs and guitar because I am planning to wait for a sale. Horses are not essential to my game, neither is the western vibe. If I get it, it will be for the world, the sheep and the nectar but not the main feature.
- Please, please please let the painted ceiling be base game.
Note: this is not my full opinion. I also posted in the positive thoughts thread - atreya333 years agoLegend

The thing is I do not think consumers should have to pay $120 USD (if you use that currency, sorry I am not aware how it translates into other currencies so I go off of what I pay with) in order to get a full gameplay experience for animals.
The ranch style looks cool and all, but nectar making for a ranch theme? That could've came with my wedding stories. And goats? that made more sense with CL. I'm getting the feeling that they added random things to justify charging $40 USD instead of classifying it as a GP. I feel like they do this often (don't get me started on Dream Home Decorator, that was a stuff pack at GP price, but that's not the topic of this thread so I digress)
The goats look super adorable, but I don't know how I feel about this being an EP. And don't get me started on the possible kit that could be released with "extra" ranch themed assets like how country kitchen is basically assets from CL lol.
I assume the 120 $ / € is cats and dogs, horse ranch and cottage living?
Not sure if cottage living should be in that list. I think the farm theme is enough to be considered it's own thing. But my first pets stuff should be mentioned as well when putting together all packs that are needed for the full pets experience. - FreddyFox12343 years agoSeasoned AceIf horses are free to roam, are we going to find them randomly wandering through the house like foxes do? And when we want to ride them somewhere, will we find our Sims are taking shortcuts riding horses through the house, as with bikes?
- Simmerville3 years agoLegendI don't mind that they separate the bigger feature groups. We should not always compare to TS3 or TS2. I don't find each pack that expensive either, that coming from a person with practically no income - hence still playing TS4 on Win8.1 and a computer that was low-end 6 years ago. Packs go on sale 6 months after release, with a game stuffed with features I did not yet try thoroughly, there's never a problem to wait if that will make justice to any rip-off. I like the split of cats&dogs and horses because I am way more a cat/dog person than a horse person. Splitting them makes it possible for me to have the features I like, and not filling up my game (and drive) with features I won't use. I will never get HSY, but there are still simmers thinking it was a rip off because it is quite similar to the UNI pack, just another age group. I'm soooo glad they are separate, as I love UNI but never play teens.
And - just because we already got CoL, should we never ever get other animals added? No sheep, no goat, no pigs? I'll welcome a few more farm additions with future packs, we don't need to say that all farm related should have been included with so and so pack.
So, loving my cows and llamas I would gladly skip this horse pack. And because it's separate, I can. If it wasn't for the sheep, goat and nectar making... :) - Not sure about this one....it is coming across as very lazy and cash grabby IMO.
Sounds like it is going to borrow alot of features from other expansions and just slap a fresh coat of paint on it. Hopefully the horses arent tied to your lot or special venues either...
So on the one hand seems abit thin and unoriginal for an expansion pack....
on the other hand I do have that save where I turned the whole of Oasis Springs into an Old West town ready to go (complete with cattle baron Landgraabs, outlaw Johnny Zest and saloon owners the Calientes!!). - Ceridwen_ae3 years agoRising VeteranThe theme isn't overly to my taste. There's loads of American stuff already (personal fave is Brindleton Bay related stuff, plus San Sequoia was nice; I think that shows my bias to be fair). Missed out on a big opportunity to have an Australian-referenced world, which would've been fun to experience. I don't hugely hate it, though, it has scope I can work with.
Sheep and goats are seriously cute, but really should grow to be full sized and should've been with Cottage Living. It's a bit on the cheeky side to split this all up, my wallet says.
I don't hate horses, but nor do I care for them in their own pack as such. I suppose I was hoping for something like a "transportation through the ages" pack, with horse and cart/horse riding, plus cars, trains, planes, etc. It would be sizeable enough for an expansion. I'll take it sans horses now, hint hint, Maxis. B)
I'm daft anyway, as I'll probably still buy this if it has nice Build/Buy items (and if not, smol sheep will probably curse me into doing it anyway). I suspect the new B/B stuff will mesh well with what we already have, and I genuinely always value more build items. Still want some nice spiral stairs though, and proper skylight windows would be nice, yet another hint hint, Maxis. B)
Best thing is the ceilings, really, and I'm hoping there's a base game variant for this (I don't know if I can pick this pack up on release, I'll have to see nearer the time), and then I imagine some more choices in this pack would be okay (like ladders and Eco Living).
I know this is the negative thread, but I'm still super happy a lot of other Simmers are overjoyed at this pack! Also, I hope those who want unicorns & llamacorns get them too (I not-so-secretly want them as well!). - SEREFRAS3 years agoLegendI wish there was a Chuck Wagon & Hayride in the new pack. Oh well. :( :'(
