It feels to me like they gimped my 35£ expansion pack on purpose. It's so early from previous release, that they must have held content back. I am angry.
My favorite part about this is that they did this immediately after completing the Make-a-Stuff-Pack experiment that was supposed to teach us how stuff packs are made.
That experiment started like a year ago! The implication is stuff packs take a year or months to develop! Every single piece of evidence - evidence that they provided us with not but a month ago - implies they've been planning this for some time. This isn't a sudden change of attitude where suddenly now they're greedy. Nah, it's basically confirmed for us they've been greedy.
Pretty sure at some point during the process it was said that the community stuff pack takes longer than normal to develop because we were involved in it. I'm sure there's all sorts of legal/beaurcratic stuff they had to work through to invovle others besides the regular dev teams. I doubt it takes a full year for a normal pack to be made. That and I think they have several projects going on at once, some pre-dev, some mid-dev, some post-dev.
Anyways, I wouldn't apply the community pack's timeline to the others. It was more about the processes (design choices and such) than how much actual time it takes.
You honestly think they dreamed up this SP in four months?
I'm not saying I know what the timeline for it is. Just saying the community SP isn't a good example for it because it's the odd one out, having involved us in the process and all that.
For all I know, this new pack could've been in pre-dev before Cats & Dogs, and the EP team saw it was like, 'hey! we could expand on that!' and it went from there. *shrugs* Or maybe Graham saw the EP team working on C&D, asked if they were including more pets, the team said nope, so Graham went 'well I'm gonna correct that cuz I remember when I was 4 and my hedgehog Steve was my bestest friend!'.
Do I think there's some huge conspiracy where the EP team made this entire pack, then cut it out and shipped it over to the SP to sign off on and label it? No. Back when CL was being developed, Graham asked if they were gonna add in bowling. He got a big ol' nope from that team and decided he'd take up the reigns and fill that in for us.
I have no reason to doubt something similar happened here. Not to mention the fact that some people can't afford/don't want C&D but do want the smaller pets, and this fits for them too.
The only reason, the ONE SINGLE REASON, this pack is tied to C&D are the pet outfits in CAS. If they were base-level Sims, this wouldn't even be an issue. I really don't see why all of 2 or 3 outfits that apparently most people around here never use anyway is such a huge deal. I really don't.
