I can see why cats and dogs are getting extra clothes and items in this iteration. They sort of have a wardrobe now just like sims get new clothes/items in each pack. An extra pets pack would be the only opportunity for that.
But it shouldn't have been a glaring selling point. I don't know if they are planning more pet packs but I'd rather have more clothes/activities for children and toddlers in unrelated future packs instead of more cat and dog clothes.
After this backlash maybe they can include small pets in future packs instead. Like birds in a tropical pack (seasons? Vacations?) Etc.
In the beginning of TS4 we had like 3-4? different stuff packs for different party types so I'm not surprised about this trend.
We don't want pets to come in Vacation packs as then we probably couldn't bring them home with the sims. I surely don't want to see small pets as collectibles again. That grated raw on my nerve as an animal advocate. Maybe though they could give us Uni and college bound students could have small caged pets like birds or lizards or turtles in their school rental. Maybe have a small pet kind of Exotic pet store on Campus for those kind of pets.
Not on Vacations necessarily. Just whatever tropical theme we get.
Eta: I don't like collectable things either. Future small pets should be in their own cages like these new ones.
