The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff - A Stuff Pack filled with Fur

So I'm sure a lot of people have been either really excited or really annoyed by the release of this new stuff pack. I for one was incredibly annoyed by the timing, price, and fact that tons of crucial items exhibited in this stuff pack were not included in my $40 purchase of TS4 cats and dogs. I'm trying to be open-minded, so can anybody give me reasons why I should buy it or reasons that I shouldn't? Thanks!

This is really sad. I can't believe that this wasn't in C&D to begin with. That desk is just a continuation of the bedroom set in C&D! The pet beds are basically recolours. The clothes are nothing new.
I hope they release this as a free pack, as others have said. Or if not, at least make it free for people who have C&D already, considering it's literally a piece of the puzzle that IS C&D.

Buying this cash grab just enables EA to further dumb down packs to sell content separately later on. You said it yourself, this content wasn’t included in your $40 purchase. That alone is reason enough to not support it, when a lot of it requires that EP.

Is it going to add to how you play this game? That's all you need to ask yourself.

Well no. Maybe that's not all you need to ask....ask why wasn't this minimal bit of added play IN C&D already?

Noone said you can't have a negative opinion. I've addressed this in another thread with you when I said "We have always encouraged feedback, negative especially as that is what will help us to grow and improve. The only comments we moderate are comments that breach the forum rules.".

I'm very disgusted by this blatant ripoff. I gave The Sims 4 the benefit of the doubt, and I'll admit that in the past year it has improved in a lot of areas. I even like Cats and Dogs, and I only thought it could use a few more touches. Then they decide to pull this off and destroy whatever trust and goodwill they've built up, which weren't that high to begin with.

If you think you'll get a lot out of it and you're fine with having more cat and dog furniture in it, feel free to buy it. I won't though, and I might just avoid buying any future DLC altogether because of this.

This one has gone too far, EA. I was impressed with the beautiful Jungle Adventures Game Pack, and was thinking.. "Wow, nice, looks like they got something right for once. I was hoping to get some World Adventures gameplay in the Sims 4." Then the trailer for My First Pet Stuff Pack was released, and now I question the decisions of the people I'm supporting.


There be some problems ye mateys:


1.) "My First Pet" - soo...that means a rodent. The only "first" pet this pack has to offer is a rodent of your choice. Do you mean to tell me that children don't have their first pet be a turtle, hermit crab, lizard, or rabbit...only small hamster-like critters? $10 for guinea pigs, the one small animal that has been there since Sims 1 Livin' Large (the very first EP, btw), now offered as a stand alone pack..wow. I really thought they were going to release a small pets pack, which I was really excited for, but did not expect one animal at a time. Not to mention this pack seems completely mislabeled...the title is confusing and misleading. I would think "First Pet" wouldn't mean your choice of rodent, but other small pets as well. Hence the word "Pet" and not "Hamster" or "Guinea Pig". The most I'd pay for a rodent of my choice in my game with the accessories would probably be at a $4.99 price point.

2.) Holding Off on Content. To know that all of the pet outfits and objects are being sold to us separately when they should have been in Cats & Dogs is something I've never seen the Sims do before, and I don't like it. If you had to raise the price of Cats & Dogs $5.00 or $10.00 to include this content (which would have been a guaranteed $10 in your pocket instead of trying to push an SP that players may or may not buy, Economics 101),and could have explained how many more items and gameplay we would be getting and I would have been fine with the higher price, as I'm sure most simmers would be...I'm assuming, I could be wrong, us Simmers can be a rough crowd, but right now it seems pretty justified.

3.) Missing Out with Base Game. I've always liked the fact that I could pick and choose which packs I wanted without having to own content I don't want. What if I'm a Simmer with just the Base Game and want a rodent-like "first pet" in my game, but not Cats & Dogs? (Actually, that would be me if I didn't own C&D) Can we even play this without Cats & Dogs? ...and if so, does that mean people without C&D miss out on content they've paid for? That's not fair, they should be offered half-price.


As Simmers, I hope we can unite and send a clear message that this is not okay, EA.


With that said...why...why did it have to be a freakin' hamster?! Do you know how much I've wanted this in my game??? EA, you know no shame, baiting us with a game staple since the beginning of Sims by selling our souls to corporate greed. *bell tolls* Shame. Shame. SHAME.

That's actually a fantastic idea. I might do the same.

I know everyone is upset. I completely see that side. I agree.

However, coming from a different side, the gurus are probably under soooo much pressure. I mean, besides us constantly yakking in their ears about what we don't like (and what we do like, hopefully), they're also under the gun from all the corporations they have to keep happy, too. Just because we complain about prices, content, etc, doesn't mean people aren't still buying it. They are and probably will continue to do so.

The other thing I've noticed is how we all talk about how it was before. Like "we should get supernatural sims like in previous Sims games or toddlers or whatever in previous games". I'm not saying I wasn't disappointed about the toddlers, too, and other things, but I had to remember it is a different game. It should be different. That's part of what makes it stand out from the others, just like S3 stood out from S2 and S2 from the original. Yes, it can be similar and will be similar. That's part of any kind of series. And it's sims. lol But now it kind of gets to me when I see that kind of talk because if they made it the same, then it would be boring. I applaud them trying hard to make it different. I sort of wonder if the gurus who are working on S4 have it that much harder as they try to walk a line between the past and the future. Not too mention, dealing with a larger social media platform than ever before, though that would go in their favor as well. I don't envy their position or jobs. (Though, I'd like the simguru cheat options for my game. :D )

Yes, I may or may not buy the pack. I don't know yet. I haven't decided. I am in a situation where I could if I wanted to. Others may want to save their moolah and wait for a better pack to come along. We're all incredibly different with situations, tastes, expections, etc. Buy it if you want, don't buy it if you want. Do what you want. What makes the most sense for you.

While I have no issues at all about stating why we don't like whatever it is we don't like because that is our right as a consumer who is shelling out the dough for their product, continuing to complain about it isn't the answer. Sure, we should state our opinion. The gurus have always, always said they wanted our feedback. But then stop. If you don't like it, then let's stand up and do something...like not buy their product anymore or walk away to find another game that is doing a better job that we want to support. Otherwise, it'll never change. The world isn't changed by sitting around complaining...it's changed by doing.

I'm pretty happy with it and this is just my opinon. I don't speak for other folks. I love the new coffee table aquarium. That's a must have because you can never have too many aquariums in The Sims 4. I also love the new clothing dogs and cats can wear and the rodents you get to choose from. I know the rodents are reskinned but they look different. I love the new cages with the spinning wheels in them and finally with this pack we're getting a new death.

One thing I am disappointed in though is no holiday clothing was added for dogs and cats. Maybe they'll add that in Seasons.
