Obviously other circumstances can come up to change those plans at some point, but part of the whole live service thing is to make updating easier n all that. The gallery has done a lot to promote creativity within the community as well.

The Sims 4 should end and they should revive the Sims 3, which is by far the best game of the serie. I don't know why it should be the longest game that they will support, it makes no sense!
Just because you don't want the game it doesn't mean they should end it. A lot of people bought The Sims 4 because they loved the game and and they are hoping for EA/Maxis to return the features they loves from previous games such as Seasons and Universities in the game. Scrap the game as soon as possible and market The Sims 5 will result to angry fans, and many will boycott the Sims 5 seeing that EA may not give a game that is expanded to its fullest. Add the controversy that the publisher had with Star Wars Battlefront II, Mass Effect Andromeda, and UFC 3, a lot are already boycotting EA, and if EA release Sims 5 without expanding Sims 4 to its fullest potential, angry fans will result to boycotting of Sims 5 which will result to the end of this franchise. It may be a waste of money for you but for others it wasn't.
If EA can release a rushed, sloppy offline game built in less than two years from an low quality online game why on earth would players boycott The Sims 5? Clearly you don’t understand how easily people are sold on Sims things.
They could release a Sims 5 that was worse than 4 and people would still buy it, and some people would still defend the bad choices made for it.
Well again If EA released Sims 5 without expanding sims 4 to its fullest. If they did that, I doubt the sims 5 will be a hit just like the other iterations. Doing that will result to a loss of a lot of fans, loosing trust for the second time. First people were angry that The Sims 4 lacks content from the start, they loose alot of fans, now at 2017 its obvious that Maxis are trying to regain their reputation and trust from the fans that they loose. From adding toddlers to pets, have them announce that they stop developing The Sims 4 and they will release Sims 5 next year that is worse than 4 then I doubt it will be even succesful. People will be angry once more. Just like what happen at Mass Effect 3 story ending and the initial release of Mass Effect Andromeda.
When that happens a lot of people will complain about 5 being worst and sims 4 being unfinished, based on the events that happened this year, people will get insipired to protest at EA from the forums, to reddit, to youtube, and they will do the same thing that people did with Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Destiny 2. People will spread info on social media about the game being lacking, Tons of protest about the game will spread, and EA will be the star again. Not only that but the Boycott EA bandwagon are getting stronger, especially seeing that UFC 3 which will release next year had predatory practices of mtx. Don't forget how Bioware's Anthem having a rough development cycle and the possibilities of mtx. After destroying Mass Effect Andromeda a lot won't be buying anthem. If those 2 big EA games of 2018 was once again received controversy because of lootboxes, mtx, etc, and Maxis will release a Sims 5 that is worse than 4, I doubt The Sims 5 will sold very well. And if the sales didn't get better in months because of the outrange and EA boycott bandwagon, I can strongly see that The Sims Freeplay and The Sims Mobile will be the only remains of once a highly popular pc franchise.
