Actually my Sims 4 was installed September 2nd of 2014 when it was released, not November 2nd Erpe.
Also Tim Letourneau (who was in charge of the Sims 1 & 2 under Will Wright) actually mentioned LIVE during the Live showing of Open for Business at Gamescom that when he returned to EA from showing that game that he would be done working on Sims 2, That Open for Business was his last Sims 2 project - and he would be Heading back to EA to Head the making of Sims 3. That was at the 2005 Gamescom he told the world. Maybe EA didn't talk about it til 2008 - but Maxis sure did - and live in front of the world. That date (you gave) was EA's (Official) announcement of the approximate release date for Sims 3 - not when they began work on it.
EA always announces games around 12-14 months before initial release, but generally Maxis studio has long let us know when they are working on the next rendition - long - long before EA's official announcement. I remember hearing Sims 4 was being worked on back in 2011 when Sim City 13 was being worked on. So far have heard zero on a Sims 5 - so if they are working on it - they are definitely keeping it to them selves this time.
