maybe they are scared now that InZoi is on the horizon and they are scared simmers will swap over to that in their droves as it looks so much more realistic

I love The Sims having competition and the idea EA losing its monopoly. And I'm sure it will manage to win a lot of Sims fans over, and maybe even drive some of said fans away from The Sims. But I don't think they'll be sweating over inZoi too much. The realistic style might turn a lot of people off, and the PC requirements are steep enough to keep away a lot of potential players. We also don't know when inZoi will even come out, and if it can live up to the hype.

I have the same feelings. I think it's healthy for there to be some competition to make EA/Maxis be better at QA'ing packs before release and forcing them to add better and more content.
I also don't feel like Inzoi will drive a ton of people away because of the super realistic graphics, I know for me personally, it's pretty jarring. I tried the Character Creator demo and I just couldn't get past the look of the characters.
So even though I am interested in other Life Sims, Inzoi is probably not one I'll buy.
But, then again, I also don't care for the look of the Parafolks in Paralives either because the 2D comic book look of the characters with the hand drawn details is also jarring to me personally because they don't match their environment. If the environment had the same 2D comic book hand drawn look then I would for sure be interested in that.

I’m one of those who definitely won’t be running away from Sims to InZoi for both those reasons — the realistic style, and the system requirements. For me, Paralives is a lot more interesting. I think I might be able to get used to the weird 2D characters if the rest of the game is good. The combination of InZoi and Paralives, appealing to both ends of the graphics and realism spectrum, should spur EA to get a move on with improving the quality of the Sims.

InZoi definitely looks promising. The art style isn't totally my thing but the early access videos show a lot of gameplay. Unfortunately I don't think my laptop can handle that game. I won't immediately abandon sims but if the game runs on my pc and I can get a complete game weather, pets and active careers for a price less than two EP, I will try it .

At this point I am not interested in InZoi. I'm not a fan of the super realistic art style and I'm a bit overwhelmed by how much is going on in that game. Plus I don't like working or doing chores. If they increase the number of life stages and come out with some really fantastic vacation experiences or release a good university game play option I might give it a go but for now, I'm good on that.
Competition will be good for EA. The community has gotten kind of negative so maybe a new option will lead to a decrease in all the negative energy.
