With the success of Sims 4, I honestly don't see EA attempting to cater to Sims 2 and 3 fan bases anymore.
I know it sounds harsh but it's just not feasible for many reasons. It's the natural process of a long running franchise.
Whether it’s Sims 2/3 fans or Sims 4 fans, there did seem to be a backlash on the lack of toddler thing...And the devs did end up including them, eventually. And the gurus did say they are listening to feedback, and I saw lots of feedback that was similar, whether a Sims 4 fan or whatever.
A life simulator / sandbox game would still have all sorts of fans demanding for the same kinds of stuff: toddlers, seasons, pools, retail, restaurants, pets, etc.
I really didn’t see a difference in the feedback. Many simmers, old and new, seem to want some similar things and want lots of content in a Sims game, regardless of whatever iteration it is.
If the next Sims game has an open world then we would know that they listened to feedback. At the moment I am not convinced
Well, I didn’t really care for open world in Sims 3, and I’m more of a Sims 2 fan, so I’m not bothered by a lack of a fully open world myself. Open world is not usually on my list of priorities for some types of games. Not every simmer is into full-open worlds.
I’m more concerned about toddlers and creative tools and options at base game. Those would show me more of the feedback.
