I think this is very telling that it is a new The Sims entry (if you ignore everything else):

Create, model, UV, and texture fashion assets such as t-shirts, jeans, jackets, shoes, etc. in a realistic style to a high level of aesthetic quality.

Of course, this is all speculation based off phrasing, but from what it reads as, it looks like they are shooting to go with a more realistic art-style for the next game (perhaps like or beyond The Sims 3). The Sims 4, The Sims Mobile, My Sims, Sims Medieval, etc. all use a very unique, stylized art-style. Going for a more realistic approach in graphics is very time consuming, and costly. They would not take that approach for a spin off.

I don’t dare to hope (to be honest I’m very doubtful) but I’d love for you to be psychic today. IF this is Sims 5, I hope they’ll take all the time they need and this time around take both Sims 2 ánd 3 fans into consideration.

They’re better of doing cartoony with realistic elements, rather than realistic with cartoony elements.

Sims 4 toddlers are far more realistic than Sims 4 toddlers and in fact why I love them.

Personally, I think it would be interesting if the art-style were more realistic, yet still a tad bit stylized. A recent game release off the top of my head which represents what I am thinking is Spiderman for PS4 (pictured in the spoiler below). I think a mix of the two is important, and could lead to great results. Most of all, I think it's important to have a distinct, recognizable art-style -- one that we look at a screenshot of the game, and instantly know it's The Sims 5.

Yes!!!!! Also, this sound odd but i think they should hire some of the people who make the CC and mods b/c there so good.

One of the things that are really important if they start creating a next Sims game, is that they cater both rotational players ánd players like me (who love focusing on one household with a developing neighborhood around them). I’m not saying that will be easy (it will require a solid toggle system) but since it’s clearly so essential to Sims players, I feel they’ll have to invest time and money in such a system.

Sims 3 hit 10 million but that figure included everything from PC, Mac, console, handhelds and smartphones. We already know the Sims 2 did 6 million on PC, and 13 million on all platforms.

Also, The Sims 2 and 3 were considered outdated and at the end of their shelf life in 2008 & 2013, people were expecting a new game,

Yet The Sims 4 came to console at the end of 2017 and is still selling like a brand new game, obviously the artsyle is working and EA are able to continue to push the game as a AAA game.

Imagine The Sims 2 in 2010 for example, of The Sims 3 in 2015 and EA still releasing DLC the public would not care.

I can still see the public caring about the Sims 4 in 2020 and that’s mostly due to the fact it still looks current.

Likely isn't a sure thing, and what's to say console bought games aren't a part of that 10 million as well? If you aren't ditching actual facts then I just can't help but ignore those made up statistics, not to mention we all know how TS3 and especially TS2 were global sensations regardless and sold more than well, leaving a lot of passionate players around.

And to this day I still play TS3 on max settings and I have no problem about how it looks, sometimes it looks even better than TS4 with all those water reflections, trees and lighting. So honestly I can't relate with that.

I don't like the cartoony appearance of Sims 4 (nor Civ 6). That is my personal opinion. I don't think it necessarily gives a game longevity, especially if the interactions and fashions are not updated. The colors are too bright for me, the textures are not pleasing.

I was happy to read "realistic" in the description. I don't want terribly realistic, but I do want something that looks better than what we have now (opinion, I know a lot of people--most probably--like the way it looks).

As others have said Medieval is a good starting point. I still enjoy the way Sims 2 and Sims 3 look. I think they look very nice. But I also prefer the way classic cartoons such as Cinderella look over the newish cartoons that are computerish. So it's likely just me.

I think you are dreaming. If the new TS5 lures TS2 and TS3 players over to it, then TS4 will be lost in the dust. Think about it, if a new Sims game can get TS3 players to turn loose of TS3 and also lure over TS2 players, then TS4 will be a side game some play sometimes, like maybe The Sims Medieval, it will then become a tiny niche of the community and all the others (TS2 &TS3) would support a new TS5 if it has things both types of players want. TS4 can't do that for TS2 and TS3 players, so a new game could, maybe, and therefore TS4 would be forgotten about by most.

ETA: People are expecting a new game, because TS4 is four years old, and time's up for most veteran players, expecting to see a new game, no matter how long they say TS4 will last. Most veteran players are ready to see the leaks about TS5. :D

Sims 5 all I ask is for Preteens to be added. Bring back the ice cream truck. If it can't be open world at least open neighborhood that is all.

Oh, I would love to create some male Sims taller than the females. :) That would be a big, new feature. :) Maybe they could build it into the neck and head instead of the body, and one Sim could have a taller neck without throwing off other animations. But that would look silly wouldn't it, lol. I would love taller male Sims, though.

With the success of Sims 4, I honestly don't see EA attempting to cater to Sims 2 and 3 fan bases anymore.
I know it sounds harsh but it's just not feasible for many reasons. It's the natural process of a long running franchise.

Its not an achievement for me if it took 4 years. Sims 2 did better in its release.
