Forum Discussion
- I think this better suits the speculation forum. Im not waiting on Sims 5, because I play Sims 4 every day and it keeps me busy <3
- It's a very bad article, and none of the points outlined by the author support the statement he's trying to make. The freelance article writers that these kinds of websites hire rarely ever know even a little bit about what they're talking about.
- Seera1024New SpectatorIf Sims 5 was any time soon, EA would likely not bother with ending support for 32 bit systems with Sims 4.
The fact that they are, means that we've got at least a few more years left of Sims 4 development before Sims 5 will come out.
As to the points in the article:
Great year for the series could mean that they've got great EP's, GP's, and SP's set up for the year.
While it might be outdated, with no competition, this leaves EA to set the pace for when it releases Sims 5. None of the previous versions ended due them being outdated.
Games take several years to develop. The fact that they are hiring now means that if it is indeed for Sims 5, we're likely a few years out. - I doubt Sims 5 is launching "soon" when the gurus keep saying they have years more content planned for TS4.
- Sims 5 will be annouced in 2 years. It will be released in THREE. Thats my guess :) But not based off of anything to do with this article.
- The link didn't work for me. But it looks like just about every game changer over on Youtube are now talking about TS5. They are all speculating of when it will be released. Do they know anymore than we do? Probably not. I think they all are a little late to the party because this forum has been speculating about TS5 for a few years now and they are just now gearing up and putting out videos to talk about TS5. It has a lot to do with SimGuruGrant no longer being senior producer of TS4. (All their speculation). But when do we usually see developers and other team members move off a current game to go work on a new game? About a year before it's released. So, yeah, the truth is out there and only about a year away in my opinion. :D

They wouldn't be much if they did - as they only put the call out for jobs back in September of 2018. It takes several years for a new base game. The earliest I could see Sims 5 is in mid 2022 other wise it will be worse than how Sims 4 started.
Those job offers were to join an already established team. :)"Cinebar;c-17070646" wrote:

Well Will Wright stated they had started work on Sims 2 Sims Stages even before he launched House Party for Sims 1.
And I know for a fact they moved half the team during Sims 2 to work on Sims 3 when they were showing the Trailer for Open For Business as they (Well Tim Letourneau) accidentally announced it at Gamescom during an interview no less, when the reporter asked him what he'd be working on after Open for Business for Sims 2. He said then he would be moving from Sims 2 to oversee 2 projects - we later found out was a new Sim series and My Sims. Of course back in those days EA was not a public company and things like that often slipped out. Of course things started changing in mid Sims 2 by the time Bon Voyage was being made and the newest CEO - Jr took the helm of EA. He basically plugged info leaks after that.
By the time Sims 3 came out even accidentally saying something could cost a Team Member their job - so there was little slip up with info on exactly when Sims 4 was started but by watching things like job call outs and such for Maxis you could see by the offered jobs when a new engine was being built and later when the base game was being worked on. There was a call out as early as 2008/2009 for a new engine and there was info on the Olympus Project leaking 2009-2010 - but nothing cement enough to fully believe that was Sims 4 or some mobile game or something else Maxis was working on. Under CEO JR nothing concrete slipped.
I do know Will Wright used to say to make a good base game - 4-5 years was not a long time to spend making it right."Cinebar;c-17070650" wrote:

Not likely as one of those jobs were Art Director which as anyone knows who knows anything about making games - is usually one of the first people hired on a new project as they oversee every stage of the project in a base game. Well unless they do things differently today than they did a couple years ago.
Sims 4 is the only "established Sims team" right now at Redwood City as far as I can see.... seeing Sims 4 Mobile was moved out.
I also think EA cleaning out the new building they made for Sims Mobile and sending that and some of that team to Fire Monkey Studio may have given them space they probably needed to make the Sims 5 if that is what that project is - seeing they closed Salt Lake City when Sims 3 ended production and Emeryville Studio when Sims City 2013 bit the dust - so they obviously needed more space to work on a new pc game - my guess is this project and seeing Sims 4 Mobile just moved out - perhaps the project is just getting started. You cannot build a new game without a place to put a couple hundred people - so they could just be starting now even - if you look at it reasonably and not as you might wish it to be. But face it a new game takes a lot of pcs, people and elbow room. Sims 4 offices look pretty full.....
One more thing - keep in mind - no where has it been established that Sims 5 is even under production - people think it is or hope it is - but it could always be another side game too. All the job stated was "a brand new Sims game" - so technically unless someone has a crystal ball or EA says something do any of us know? Just like where did you get info on an "established team"? I have connections and cannot find out info like that. I know - I tried.
I could probably get info on national security easier than on the "New Sim Game" for crying out loud. (I'm nosy - what can I say).- LadyKynSeasoned Traveler

The url didn't load for me but when I searched I took the article with a pinch of salt as it looked just like the speculation here. I did find a useful article on Digital Overload about the latest Windows 10 update though so not a useless search. :)
Get rid of the https part and it'll link you to it had to do that since it wouldn't link.
