Thinking a bit more on this I see two types of drama possible. One is built into the game by the nature of the sims, their relationships with others, and interactions with the environment. For this sort TS2 is a useful yardstick for type and level. The other drama is what we create with the game provided resources and our imaginations. For me, TS2 is a lot easier to do this with as there is more to work with than in 4. For example, Strangerville mystery - Why is the only time one encounters the agents, maybe, and never in official attire is when one first moves in? They should be a continual presence in town and once your sim starts investigating there should be push-back encounters. Why isn't the secret lab guarded? For a place the 'feds' don't want visited, it sure is wide open and ripe for the picking. Overall, the game seems too focused on sunshine and lollipops than even ordinary life challenges.
