The Trouble With Toddlers …

Toddler hungry, bordering on 'hangry'. Mother gives food to toddler. Toddler sends food flying across the room, resulting in mess. Father treats toddler to a 'chewing out' that a Master Chief Boatswain's Mate in anybody's navy would envy while mother cleans up mess. Note: Father is very good friend of Frederick Wentworth, Captain, Royal Navy.

Sounds just like real life really. My son cries for a cup of milk, I give him a cup a milk and he throws it and starts crying. smh

I have a major issue with the toddler beds. Only 1 energy. When you let the energy fill up they're starving to death and wet their diaper. It's eat and sleep all the time. I have used the tent before, but I wish they'd give us an option of 1 energy or at least 4 energy like we have with other beds. Takes forever to get them lined out so they can play and learn skills so much time spent on eating and sleeping. They're not newborns anymore. I don't even bother with the highchair. I just drag food from fridge to counter and let them grab a serving.

I dread going into a house that has a toddler.

You can wake them up to have them use the Potty chair, and then send them back to bed. Also, same with food. I have three Toddlers in my game at the moment. The firstborn, and his younger twin sisters. But, I agree, it does seem most of the time they're sleeping. In my busy household, that can be a blessing! As for the tent, I only have one of those in this same household. One of the twins used to use that all of the time, but it doesn't grow their energy as well as the Toddler bed. So, there you have it.

ETA: I'm hoping that when Infants drop, one of the things EA will address is the lack of energy providing beds for the Tots. Perhaps, in a pack?

For the energy, I have my toddlers sleep about 12 hours overnight and take a 2-3 hour nap midday. They rarely get into red energy! I think that nap is necessary, just like a real 1-3 year old :D or could be a glitch with the beds LOL who knows!

I don't pay much attention to toddlers. It's only the pas few months of simming that I found sims will benefit from learning skills while toddlers. I find the potty training and high chair totally frustrating, but that might be more to the fact of the game lining up actions invisible in queue, so when directing a parent to feed in high chair the game responds with "let's sit down and chat in the room upstairs" while the actual "serve food in high chair" is queued but not yet invisible. I've pulled out most of my hair over this by now...

Try having a Sim Serve (fill in mealtime here) and leave the platter on the counter. Then have a Sim "Call to meal". The Toddlers can easily grab their food from there. They may toddle off to another room, but if you watch, they'll take a seat and eat their food. I only have a high chair on the lot for 'emergency feedings', if you will.

As for Potty Training, having a adult Sim help them, it really doesn't take all that long. (Not like in Sims2, where you had very limited time to get it done, anyway.)

I hear you. I just drag food out to a counter and let them grab a serving. That has saved me a lot of frustration and possible rage quitting lol. They are so cute and well done but boy are they frustrating and the high chair problem doesn't help when you have a "hangry" tot, pop up says they're defenseless little things meaning this is a warning your tot is going to be taken so get moving.

Yes please. Their parent could be at work all day and they’ll still not get a full bar of energy. It really messes my sims schedule, they’ll be able to sleep overnight but the toddler is wide awake all night ?
