The TS4 Screenshots folder

I take plenty of screenies during my gaming sessions, and in order to keep then organized I would like to sort them to subfolders within the Screenshots folder. I recently got GetToWork, and now all the photos taken by sims seem to be stored in Screenshots folder as well.

Q: Is the Screenshots folder totally up to me to deal with, or will I mess with game things if I reorganize it? Will moving those photographies have any impact on framed photos in-game, or are duplicates stored elsewhere in my game?

  • It doesn't matter. You can mess them all you want. :) However, if you put them into a new folder within that screenshot folder, you won't be able to look at these photos from the in-game memories button/menu and your sims won't have any more pics with memories tied to them.
  • FWIW, some Simmers have reported better game performance if they move their screenshots out of EA's folder completely, into their own somewhere else.
  • I have a separate Screenshot folder outside of my The Sims 4 folder.
I clean the original one out occasionally, since I take a lot of screenshots (over 2000 and counting shots for just one save :p ), and it seems to boost the performance of my game.

Nothing should get messed up if you do this, or if you even keep and organize the pictures within your Screenshot folder.

Your framed photos in-game will remain; the only issue I've noticed of pictures disappearing is when it comes to removing the screenshots taken when a Sim uses "Paint From Reference".

Otherwise, your game will be fine.
  • Thanks all! I do normally move my screenshots out of the game files, but some times it might be ok to add a sub folder while I wait to do so.
  • If you move your screenshot folder to your Desktop and then delete the one in the game (so you can have it start a new screenshots) folder, can you move the Desktop one back into the game at some point?

I have two saved games with two different story lines, and I want to keep the screenshots separate.

    Am I making sense?

@luisfan0812 you can switch the folders. What I would do is make two folders to be kept on the desktop labeled Save 1 and Save 2. Or whatever description works for you. Then after each game play session I'd move the pics to the appropriate folder on the desktop.

    Welcome to the forum. ?

Thanks for the additional clarification folks!

As this thread is quite a few years old I'll be locking it here to avoid additional necro-posts, thanks!
