There's no option to discipline for forbidden words

I'm sure I'm not the first person to post this, but all the other topics that seem to come up are just people in awe and excitement over the kids being unruly. How do you get the kids to stop?

  • I believe there is. I remember disciplining my sim children for shouting forbidden words. I think you have the option after they did it.
  • If they're in a loud phase, they sometimes look like they're saying forbidden words. I had that recently with one of my sim teens. The description of the phase says they'll yell, so I guess it isn't swearing... just yelling. No way to stop the phase but my teen seemed to get over it in a couple of days. I still checked to make sure I'm wasn't missing any forbidden word use though :D

That's probably exactly my issue then. Perhaps they should make the yelling appear differently. It also might be appropriate to discipline a child that's yelling at their grandfather across the table though. Hmmm.

  • Is the parent/guardian in the room with the child when they yell the forbidden words?

I COULD BE wrong, but I think that the adult has to witness it, for the child to get in trouble.
  • Admittedly I don't play kids much but could it be linked to parenting skill?
  • My child (daughter) is 'going through a phase' of yelling and her father is absolutely witnessing it; just now after happily learning to say sorry she immediately yelled for no reason. Dad's a level 10 parent yet still can do nothing but 'ask about phase' which is pointless. He's supposed to be able to discipline and ground misbehaving kids but nope. NEVER appears in the many options. It's as ridiculous as the bear costume phase... What idiocy THAT is. As soon as one of my kids pops that particular stupidity I immediately age their butts right out of it. I tried playing along with the first kid who pulled that, dressing up as foolish bears 'in solidarity' but she never passed through it. It was like her new life state until I got sick of it and aged her up. I love my Sim kids but some of the things that go on are only infuriating.
