TheSims.com redesign looks incredible bad

Good gosh that looks horrible. Why are the colors so damn bright and saturated? Are they trying to blind people? I'm convinced that they're doing this to appeal only to children. There's no reason to make a screen that overly bright for something geared to anyone over 12.
