They Showed Up at High School?

I have had High School Years since it was released. This is the very first time Teens from another household actually showed up on campus. (And I'm not talking about NPCs.) I have only two households I created in this new save. Both families live in Windenburg.  I left the first household to spend a bit of time with the second one and I followed the two sisters to school. Suddenly the middle brother of three was there in the hallway. Say, what? I have never had that happen before. It's been my experience, that even in played households, the Sims neither go to work, nor attend school. Happily, all three of the teen boys from household one was in attendance. The eldest was even tossing a football in the hallway to another student, an NPC.

Mind you, I was so delighted at this, giving the eldest of the two sisters a chance to meet what will be her future husband. When was this refreshed? At any rate, I'm very happy about this.

Stina1701A  Thank you for liking my post on another thread.  It led me here to forward the "like"; I also learned more about HSY that I started contemplating on adding to my library yesterday.

  • My game is at the 13th generation and there are a lot of cousins in my game. I've never seen a relative in school with my teens. Also, I had one HS graduation ceremony when the HS pack came out, I never saw another. It's been so long, that when I saw it mentioned here I remembered it existed.

You're not alone on the graduation thing. I've only experienced it once and I also have had it since its release.

In all fairness, I should say I do play with mods. One or more could be interfering. The save I was playing only uses the MCCC mod.

  • A lot of the game's "filters" that determine which sims are "eligible" to fill positions exclude households marked as "played". Sims in "My Households" are excepted from showing up as vendors and such.

The HSY Student filter specifies that it wants "Unimportant Sims" only, which often excludes played households. The point of that is to prevent your storylines you're telling from potentially being damaged by having Sims show up places they shouldn't be. Whether or not that makes sense for high school I'm not sure.

It's possible played household Sims only get called for High School if there aren't enough "unimportant sims" to fill the rest of the classes. The game may be saying "use unimportant sims first, and then played teens, and then generate new teens if not enough sims are available".
