I must admit, I do come across little things that create a bit of annoyance. Like an unpapered wall or something else that hasn't been finished off. And there are shortcuts too with objects.
For instance, the new bathtub/shower in Strangerville - the curtain doesn't close when the sim gets in but you still hear the sound of a shower door closing.
The new laptops... very disappointing that they don't even open and close them. They are not really laptops, IMO, just a different looking computer. I don't understand why people are so excited about having them.
When you add all these things up, it comes across as low quality shoddiness.
The attention to detail started to die with The Sims 3 and it's gone, for the most part, with The Sims 4. The gaming industry has changed. It was unacceptable to release unfinished/unpolished games before. Now, with the advent of digital releases, it doesn't really matter anymore. We still buy those game, so what's the point of taking an extra month to polish the details? Who cares if the product is a little bit rough around the ages if people still pay for it, right?
Times have truly changed, and for us ancient beings (I'm 26 but sometimes I feel ancient), it's really hard to accept change. Quality has been replacement with quickness. It's not a change I'm fond of, but it's the reality we have to live in.
Those laptops in StrangerVille are exactly like some custom ones I've seen. One would think that professional developers could do more than reskinned a desktop PC and make it live draggable. But I learned no to assume anything with this iteration.
- Laptops in The Sims 3 can be used on the floor, you don't need a surface to use them.
- You don't need to drag them in and out your inventory, you can use them straight from the inventory, Sims will look for a surface to sit or will sit on the floor and they carry the laptop under their arms.
- Laptops can be closed in TS3. It's the most basic difference between a laptop and an all-in-one desktop but...
Then there's of course the aesthetics aspect. Let's just say I'm not a fan of the design of most objects in TS4 (Sims and CAS items are great though, but objects...). At LEAST it's not a huge thing like the telescope, right? It could've been worse.
