So, another fun fact for the day.
Grim Reaper has a special secret your sim can learn through the snooping system.
Being Grim
Soul reaping is not for the faint of heart. When you’ve been around as long as I have, you’ve witnessed a series of fateful events. But even as death, I have lived a full life. I have loved. I have lost. There are times where I have pitied and obliged. And times where I have been downright medieval.
I even owned a cowboy hat once, although I’m not sure where I put it. Unfortunate for you, death’s secret is not one I can share. Mere mortals learning of such things before their time would be a grave mistake. One that would haunt you ’till the end of days! But I will leave you with this – rest up before you rest in peace, the afterlife can be quite lively.
It has plenty of references to Grim Reaper in previous games:
- The Sims 2's Olivia Specter's storyline (her woohooing with Grim Reaper and having Nervous Subject).
- How at the old times when your sim pleaded, they either had to play rock-paper-scissors (The Sims 1) or which hand (The Sims 2). In addition, beating Grim Reaper in chess gets recently deceased sim resurrected. Plus The Sims 2 for Console allowed ghosts to challenge Grim Reaper to fiddle competition to get their life back.
- Grim Reaper can reject a plea in The Sims 1 and 4.
- Grim Reaper has a different appearance in The Sims Medieval. Here's a picture of him.
- Grim Reaper has a different appearance in The Sims 2 for DS. He's called Grim Cowboy there. Here's a picture of him. And here's even a concept art of him!
- Grim Reaper's secret is as cryptic as the answers he gives when he is asked for his career or if he's single.
- Finally, the last part references that sims become ghosts after death.
I am actually resharing this thing from The Sims Forums (where I go more in depth in some entries), but it's still a fun detail.
A small fun fact for today.
Sad sims with at least 2 levels in Gardening skill can water plants with tears.
Random emotional interactions were so fun to discover in The Sims 4...

Today's fun fact is a secret feature with hot tubs.
You'll have to upgrade it with Aromatherapy Upgrade first. Then you'll have to have a sim with following things:
- Mischief skill on level 10.
- Level 10 or up* in following careers: Scientist, Secret Agent, Criminal.
*"Or up" is included due to Villain branch in Secret Agent career actually having 11 levels instead of 10. - One of the following traits: Mean, Genius, Evil (Evil trait from flower arrangement gift scented with Begonia also counts)
What can you then expect? Well, you could go see it in-game, or click on the spoilers.
SpoilerYou have a new aromatherapy option: Thioacetone Oil
Once done, the hot tub will immediately break. In addition, while the aroma is active, every sim in the neighborhood gets this Uncomfortable Moodlet:SpoilerUncomfortable +4
Unimaginable Odor
(From Hot Tub)
Thioacetone may be unimaginable for you, but it isn’t for poor [Sim Name]. Get to a bathroom. FAST.
4 hours
After the Moodlet expires, the sim will need to throw up. They may do it on their own or you can direct them to by clicking on a toilet or on a bush.
This aroma can only be used once per day.Now that's a really secret feature in my books (it's hard to discover by your own)!
Yeah, side-fun fact from this post: Villain Branch in Secret Agent career is the only career to have 11 levels rather than the usual 10 levels. This is the first and only time in the whole The Sims series games.

It would be lovely to talk with and understand what the birds are saying in real life @simgirl1010 🙂

Today's fun fact is well...
I'll take something from my self-discovery thread.
If you want to have a self-discovery moment for Lactose Intolerant trait, your sim has to drink spoiled milk. It won't happen if your sim has Vegetarian trait and it can replace Glutton trait.

Fun For Rent fact!
Households that include horses will never appear in the potential tenant pool when filling vacancies as a property owner.
Remember, every household that is marked as Currently Not in a World has a chance of appearing there.

Simmers probably already know this, but you can have music playing near where your sim is gardening, and they will enjoy listening to the music whilst gardening 🙂

Does the cowplant still dance to the music as well?
- rosemow2 years agoHero
Yes, the cow plant does dance to the music! @OzSimsFamily 🙂 It is cute!

So, in Myshuno Meadows, there are some fireworks near the wedding arch.
Fun feature with fireworks is that if it's placed near a wedding arch, if sim gets married there or renews their vows, the fireworks will automatically fire off.
Try it yourself! Purchase fireworks from either a computer (includes an extra Wedding fireworks set!) or a festival stall and place them near the wedding arch and watch the magic happen!
Note. My Wedding Stories here to ruin the magic again! If you exchange vows in the wedding event (not through get married interaction), the fireworks won't go off.
So, if you have the pack, don't throw the event. Just get married through the arch.

Today's fun fact is something I discovered years back (April 1st, 2021).
Whenever you encounter a temple skeleton at night or summon a skeleton servant through the relic, if you learn the skeleton pun from them and tell it back to them three (sometimes more) times, they'll laugh so hard that they'll crumble into a pile of bones.
It'll delete them from the game, but they'd be deleted regardless once they leave the lot.

Today I'll share this fun fact:
You can actually exceed the 100 unit limit!
Well, you cannot add more units, but you can still change more lots into Residential Rental lots, which will count towards the limit.
So yeah, that's how I did that one:

Simmers probably already know this but sometimes after lightning strikes, there will be crystals in their garden.

Quick fun fact for today.
Teens have different animations for gossiping, flirting, yelling etc, but High School Years adds new teen-exclusive animations (friendly introduction for example.)

It is helpful to know that by sims teaching their dog the heel command, they don’t need a leash @simgirl1010 🙂 It is great that they will then follow the sim wherever they go!

Today I have dug up how the start of a mid-life crisis works.
It turns out that when your sim is an adult, being in the following emotions will help to trigger it (the ones with + have a higher chance of triggering it):
- Angry + (the chance isn't increased when it's due to Werebies)
- Sad +
- Tense + (the chance isn't increased when it's due to Werebies)
- Uncomfortable
- Embarrassed
In addition, sim not being part of the household and sim already having had a mid-life crisis (aka having this trait: trait_Hidden_MidlifeCrisis_HadACrisis) will also prevent mid-life crisis from starting.
At first, I thought that witnessing death helps mid-life crisis to come about faster. Well, it was just a coincidence as witnessing death gives your sim a strong Sad moodlet, which in turn has a higher chance of starting it. And yup, there is a file called loot_MidlifeCrisis_SimDeath, but it's for removing all the mid-life crisis stuff once the sim having it dies.

Last Mid-Life crisis fact. I'll move on to other topics for now, but I'll get back to mid-life crisis when the new forums open up.
Anyway, there are 4 desires your sim could have once the early part is over:
- Desire for Adventure (slower energy decay)
- Desire for Creativity (higher quality craftables)
- Desire for Relationships (higher relationship gain)
- Desire for Success (higher career performance gain)
While sims have equal chance of getting one of these desires, certain traits can also cause certain desire to appear less:
Spoiler- Adventure
- Outdoorsy Lifestyle
- Frequent Traveler Lifestyle
- Adrenaline Seeker Lifestyle
- Active
- Adventurous
- Child of the Islands
- Child of the Ocean
- Loves Outdoors
- Creativity
- Creative
- Genius
- Art Lover
- Maker
- Music Lover
- Perfectionist
- Relationships
- People Person Lifestyle
- Single and Loving It Lifestyle
- Romantic
- Dance Machine
- Bro
- Family-Oriented
- Insider
- Outgoing
- Success
- Workaholic Lifestyle
- Self-Assured
- Kleptomaniac
- Materialistic
- Ambitious
- Overachiever (High School Years)
Remember, having a certain trait doesn't prevent certain desire from appearing. It simply is rarer than other desires (or equally common if your sim has traits from all of these categories).
Though it seems like The Sims Wiki has info on all of that for now...
