After not really playing any households for a while, what I was doing was make-overs in CAS, and working on lots (updating with the different packs, especially for seasons). Anyways I moved in a YA female, who was going to be a painter by profession. On the first day, she saw a very handsome, but older gentleman walking down past her home, and she was in the mood for a bit of romance. Apparently, he was too, because before the neighbors showed up, they actually got their first kiss, and he gave her a lovely rose. Things are really looking good. Anyways, he left and she entertained her guest, and everyone ate the fruit cake that was brought over...YUCK. But my sim was still is such a good mood that didn't really phase her much. Everyone had a wonderful time, and before anyone realized it the time was up, and everyone left. The fruit cake was not very filling so my sim decided to make herself a grilled cheese sandwich. To wrap up this story, she caught on fire, and no matter what I tried, she refused to run to the shower to put herself out. As a result, the house burned down, and she died. All that was left when the next sim moved it was an empty shell of a house with a single urn sitting on the floor. For this next sim, I made sure to put in a fire extinguisher, and alarm.Yes I know I could have gone back to the last save point, but if a sim is not smart enough to run to the shower, well tough luck for them.

Maybe you could make a new sim for that house and build on that story? Maybe your new sim will fall in love with the ghost sim? That has potential to be a fun story.Edit: Missed the part where you said you had a new sim. But still potential for a good story.

You can also extinguish self via a self-interaction, or by jumping in a swimming pool if you have one.

Oh my gosh this happened to me the other night! I have NEVER had such a short lived Sim. I'd been waiting to buy Strangerville until it went on sale. I finally just bought it last weekend (it will now go on sale, just watch...) and created my Sim to be my hero of Strangerville. Like anytime I create a new Sim, I took... forever. Finally, I moved her in and started her up in a freelance career so she could work from home while simultaneously solving the town's mysteries. She went to sleep after a long day of mingling with weirdos, playing with her cat, and doing a couple freelance gigs. Her cat woke her up early, so she decided to make some eggs and bacon. Big mistake, Level 1 Cooking Skill havin plum... She promptly caught on fire and died. I did try to make her run to the shower to extinguish herself, and it didn't come up as an option because she was on fire... I'm like, I KNOW, that's why I'm trying to get in the shower??? I think some Sims' fates are determined for them before we even get a chance :D I also reloaded to the last point I saved which is, habitually, when she was asleep. You know I did not let her COOK this time around.

Remember you can always click your sim and do "extinguish self" I find it more reliable, shower trips fail because the "route to safety" overrides.

I might do something with her later. I have moved her tombstone out to the cemetery.

This has to be the shortest any of my sims have ever lived before ...

Maybe you could make a new sim for that house and build on that story? Maybe your new sim will fall in love with the ghost sim? That has potential to be a fun story.

Hold up! Does the the fire extinguisher item actually do anything in the case of actual fires?

Too few of my sims actually catch on fire for me to notice. But haha! Wow. Great story. Reminds me of my first ever sim back in the sims 1. I don't think that poor soul even made it a week. Grilled cheese will be the undoing of us all.

I had a similar happening a few years ago! I made a Sim, and he was a scientist. On his first day at work or so, he accidentally caught on fire and died! I didn't know where the showers on the other floors were at the time (or I'd forgotten), so I sent him to the one down in the basement. He died at the bottom of the stairs.

Mine just blow on their arms when I ask them to extinguish self. Which has no effect. They won't go to the showers even when I click on the extinguish option on the shower. The sprinkler system can be slow to operate sometimes and your sim dies as it starts up. Some of the premades houses have alarms but no sprinklers so don't get fooled.

I reading these. I think my shortest Sim life was a teen I had. They goofed around with their friend then the mom came home and made a funny face and my teen sim died of laughter. They only became a teen a few days before.

I had a sim die the day I made them move in to their house on The Sims 1. They somehow set themselves on fire cooking food in a microwave, went outside and started spaztastically dancing and turned into a tombstone within hours of moving in.
