Yes. I need those. My absolute dream house would have a double grande staircase just like that...but with a big, elaborate stained glass window at the top where the light filters in with all of those vibrant colors...Yeah, I'm a sucker for elaborate architectural details, which is why I'm not a big fan of the low-detail, mass produced "people boxes" designs of so many modern buildings.
But, in general, we really need more styles of stairs. In
one of my recent builds, I had to extend the bathrooms located beneath the tower bedrooms to an unnecessary size just to fit the stairs leading up to the towers. Spiral staircases would have made that so much simpler and more elegant! Plus, the straight stairs aren't that flattering in the grande entrance hall of that mansion either, splitting straight off into opposite directions instead of being able to form the elegant U-shaped curve (like the stairs above) that I really wanted. Heck, originally I wanted to have the tower rooms higher up with one tower floor that was just the stairs, but with no spiral stairs, my towers are forced to be stunted, runty little things. This "One Stair Shape to Rule Them All" thing is getting really old, really fast...
