This toddler is driving me insane!

In my rotations through households I have experienced toddlers with all of the different traits. None of them has ever had a nightmare - even when I first started playing toddlers. I think it may be because: (1) they are always, always "read to sleep" and "tucked in" by a parent or teen, and (2) there is always a radio in their room playing the lullaby station through the night.

One time I forgot to change from the tweenpop station that the toddler had been dancing to earlier. It didn't give her nightmares, but she would not stay in bed (even though she was exhausted) until I switched the music over to the lullabies station. hahaha

Has anyone else has noticed the same "remedies" in your games?

Honestly, I don't get the fuzz I had my sim give birth to 3 unexpected babies and they were crazy as toddlers not going to lie about that, but I always got them to do what I wanted, and if you ever expirence your toddler or child have nightmares put a night light over their bed.

Maybe others have said some of the same... sorry if this is duplicate info!

Try giving him food on the floor. You can cheat it and put a single serving of food in his inventory (you can either use the parent to give food from inventory or you could just make a single serving... there are a few different ways to do it). Then you can have him eat on his own. You can also serve a meal and then "call to meal" and he will grab his own serving. The game claims that the toddlers are happiest eating in the high chair but the high chair is buggy and a total pain in the butt. There has to be an adult around right there ready the moment that the toddler's done eating. Even having the parent eat at the same time as the child isn't always effective - especially for typical high chair food ("quick meal" type food). The toddler finishes and then starts screaming to be let out before the adult's done eating!

He apparently does not like baths because almost every time he is bathed he wants out before he is clean (not sure if this is a bug or not) and I have to start the bathing process all over again

I had this happen but it was because I had the newborn on the same floor. That is definitely a bug because once I moved the newborn to the ground floor, they could bathe him just fine. You could also try choosing the toddler and having him "ask for bath" and see if that changes anything?

Both parents have full time jobs and caring for this little boy is killing them. They can't eat, they can't sleep. They definetly have no time for themselves. I'm excited to see what happens once I get the grandparents moved in. As hellish as my sims lives are right now I'm ready for baby number two!

I totally get this. As I said, I have 4 working parents (all on different schedules) and a child. The child is able to do minimal things for the toddler but for the most part the child is only capable of caring for himself. I think he can pick up servings and bring that to the child but he can't potty train, comfort, nothing else.

(I'm not complaining I just wanted to share my toddler horror story) I will however complain about the toddler bugs they are definitely make caring for this little one a lot harder. Sims constantly pick up and put down the toddler repeatedly for no reason. I've noticed when being read to sleep after the story is done the toddler gets out of bed (angry because he is tired) and then climbs back in to go to sleep. I'm assuming that the random nightmare moodlet when the child isn't sleeping is also a bug. When I click on the energy need to send an EXHAUSTED sim to bed "pick up toddler" is queued instead

They definitely are cute. And the bugs are definitely obnoxious. But NOT using the high chair has made a significant difference. I just throw a few of those little animal chairs in the dining area (toddlers are able to sit on the bear chair and the couch, but not dining chairs) and feeding them is much easier. But yes, it's irritating to send my sims to do something and then I turn around and they're doing something opposite. They tend to the toddlers when I DON'T want them to and they WON'T tend to the toddlers when I DO want them to.

Yeah, I usually read a toddler to sleep and I have also noticed that they never have a nightmare when I do that. If I just send them to bed on their own then a nightmare is certainly a possibility. I haven't played a wild toddler yet but I have been playing with a fussy one. The fussy toddler is ... not ... my favorite. She's honestly kind of bratty. I have decided that she will be a very capable adult though, probably a politician or detective or something. I just deal with the tantrums and bad moods. She can complain but I have the parent push ahead and get her to do what they want. I just accept that she's often sour. She is gaining skills but more slowly than a lot of my other toddlers. She has been the slowest to potty train.

I agree about letting them grab a plate. I still use the high chair a bit but I do this a lot now especially in a multi-kid household. The clingy toddler wasn't too bad but I tried that with one who has a stay-at-home mom. Most of the other personalities have been fairly easy so far. The toddler in the bath is a bug when you have a younger baby. I have had it in this save but interestingly it has not showed up in an apartment. I thought they would have to move with their three kids if they couldn't bathe the toddler when a new baby was born but they were fine. Move the bassinet downstairs if you can and you should be able to bathe the toddler.

Some of them are a handful. I had a devilish brat like yours, would throw away the food, would escape from the bathtub, tell everybody to go away, and rip apart all books and kitchenware. The funny thing is that whenever he threw a fit, his parents would laugh (and so would I). I got tired of the little sheet so I just put him on the roof and left him there screaming, farting, peeing, pooping and sleeping over his own filth until he was "taken away" (and it really took a while!). Then the parents adopted a sweeter child who is a delight.

I have to mention that after the toddler update there are a ton of bugs that were not in the game before, I never had problems with lagging until the last update, and something that was strange for me is that my first toddler was stuck in his highchair for a long while, he kept crying and the family would not pay attention until finally his brother got to the chair and took him out. It was the ONLY time that the toddler stayed in the highchair. After that, everytime the toddlers are stuck, they cry and they get off the chair themselves!!! Is that supposed to happen? They start crying and if nobody comes, in a nanosecond they are on the floor like nothing happened.

Today one of my fave sims turned out to be pregnant and then she gave birth to twins (a girl and a boy). SInce I can't stand the creepy alien-looking babies in this game (and the nanny I hired was lazy) I aged both of them up, incredibly cute toddlers, until the boy went to his sister's room and smashed her dollhouse, I was so angry that in punishment I locked him out in the balcony. I forgot about that and when I went back to the game he no longer existed (haha).

Which brings me to something, I believe that us players should be able to choose what kind of nanny or maid we want. My game sends the same nanny everywhere and he is lazy, goofy and borderline pedophile (he performs the flirty movements in front of the children!). I fire him , hire a new nanny and to my surprise, it's the same sim over and over again.

As the cab driver from "MAD TV" used to say, "Kids are BAD! Aaalways BAD!" XD

I just love how badly Toddlers are able to behave now! They can be trying sometimes, especially if you like running your sims lives like a well-oiled machine. Still, I love 'em a thousand times more than TS2's Toddlers. ^_^

They need better beds because the current ones suck. New beds will probably be in another ten dollar stuff pack though.

My best advice is to either play on Long lifespan for a little while then switch back to Normal, or turn aging off for a bit and then turn it back on again. Then again, I never play on Normal lifespan in TS4, simply because it's just too short for me to really enjoy at my leisure...

My legacy just had triplets the other day and when they aged up to toddlers they were fussy, wild, and clingy. It was so hard to take care of all three of them. If not one then all three of them were constantly throwing tantrums.
