Thread for Builders

I'm just getting back into the game and I really love small houses. The routing in this game allows for really tiny bathrooms. I've been making tons of 2x2 bathrooms that are fully functional. I also saw a couple of tutorial videos for making different types of tables. They basically use a mod called T.O.O.L. to scale the actual table to near invisible and then they could put like a computer at an angle and it still functions. Also really creates some unique designs.

I made a room without a door/entrance because a proper entrance doesn't match the aesthetic. B)

Otherwise, I haven't done anything that weird.

I have a weird thing about overhead lights. Can't stand them. In any builds I download I always go through every room deleting them all.

I have improved recently though, with the introduction of the teeny tiny saucer light. I will allow myself to use that in my builds, but only if I size it down to near invisible proportions :D

That tiny saucer light is my jam! haha

I've been remodeling all of my houses that I created when the game first came out and that little light keeps making appearances.

ah the good old no privacy glass box concept i did lots of that in ts3

but yeah i think most of us (me included) make very small kitchens and toilets cause the size doesnt really matter in the game it functions same

but in reality you would probably like to switch the priorities and get them comfortable size

same for ladders over any other types of stairs when you have like million storey buildings

as for lights i feel like people usually use too many of those saucer friends and overlight the room so it has the flattest lighting ever

personally i really dislike this look so i would often try to include table,floor and wall lights instead to make things moody

but then again its also ridiculous cause the amount of candles i use would surely be fire hazard

and yeah why would anyone care for my opinions anyway

I prefer large builds, myself. And when I make them, I do my best to not clutter every room up with furniture, and all that other stuff. I've taken some nice builds from the Gallery, but although the floorplan may be appealing, many a time the builder has furnished it so that my Sim in RL would have to step over stuff just to get into a room! Who lives like that, except my late grandmother? So, I try to selectively place a couple of chairs and a table where it isn't crowded and yet gives a nice homey ambience to the area without it looking like a slob lived there.

I occasionally like to watch builders on YouTube. A number of times I've noticed them creating the smallest bathroom imaginable. For example, a showerhead right over the toilet, and then completely omitting the sink (with the reasoning that the sims can use the kitchen sink), so the room is probably 2x1 at best. I just can't help imagining myself showering right by the toilet while trying to get clean, and water getting on everything else... ugh! I enjoy doing tiny builds myself, but I could never do this to my sims. I would cut space elsewhere before I do this.... actually, I would never do this. ☺️

I do always wonder about these builders, who place cooking utilities on the wall directly above the stove. In reality you will always have to clean them before you can use them again.
My quirk is to have curtains on every window, especially bath- and bedroom and maybe darkened these.
I like to have some privacy for my sims. A room without curtains looks like an office. :)

Well I keep forgetting to put stairs in my houses and my Sims end up becoming very annoyed they can't use the bathrooms! ?
