I'm using mods to slow down sim time (and I recommend MCCC to everyone for this sole purpose) but I hope in future games we'll see improvements and ways to customize how much we want one sim minute to last irl. Doesn't seem like a complicated feature to implement, if a modder could do that so can the devs.
