I have been thinking about purchasing the Vampires pack. I am not sure though. I have every other pack for the game, except this one. On one hand, I REALLY want to complete my collection... On the other hand, I don't want vampires in my game, I think it takes away some realness.
I guess I just need some pros and cons from you guys to help me choose.
I do not play Vampires...have not yet played Vampires even once, and I still highly recommend the pack. I feel it was worth it (for me) even though I didn't get it when it was on sale...getting it on sale is a steal!
It has a lot of good stuff in it even if you don't like the supernatural sim aspect of it. Unless you despise gothic stuff, the Build/Buy mode stuff is awesome. I also like some of the CAS stuff.
This hair is one of my favorite short hairs in the game:
Some really good gothic style furniture in the pack too, as well as wall ivy, some good dead/dry trees, gothic style arches, doors, wall patterns, some really nice parquet floor patterns. Check out the sims vip page for it, particularly the beginning of the article where they show shots of all the CAS content, and then way down at the bottom where you can cycle through all the BB content. Just skip past the huge middle section about playing a vampire...then decide for yourself. https://simsvip.com/sims-4-vampires-guide/
@Corenren Vampires don't do much in the game unless you actively pursue investigating them with an active sim. If you do not interact with them, and do not read about them (in books or on the computer) and do not talk about them (with the social interactions) they will do almost nothing in the game. It's only once you start to be curious that they get active. This was EA's way of making sure they didn't disrupt play for people not interested in having them disrupt play, I believe.
I think the most you'll see is Vlad (or one of the other vamps that comes with the pack) showing up outside your house shortly after you install the pack. If you IGNORE them, and do not read or talk about vamps, he does not come back again very often (if at all). If you do talk to or study about vamps though, be warned....he'll come back and bite you while you sleep most likely. At that point you'll need to get garlic and learn enough to hang garlic braids or wreaths to keep them out.
If you use mods, you can also set a limit on how many area allowed in your game. I believe the lower limit is 1 (rather than 0, iirc what I read in the MCCC documentation the game doesn't like 0). Unlike past sims games, they also do not spread like a virus. They won't turn other sims into vampires autonomously (without mods that is).
Sweet! Thank you @Stormkeep ! I think I will get the game. If vamps become a problem I suppose I could just do some household management and delete them lol.
I just got the pack and I am LOVING it! But I have always loved vampire lore and books about vampires. I was one who WANTED a vamp attack, to see what happened, and it never did yet....I had to form a club and have Vlad and the Vatores join it and make drinking plasma the club activity to get it to finally happen!

You'll have to keep an eye on household management -- the game does generate vampires even if you delete the three premades, but they'll all be in Not In World population so if you go through that category and see vamps you can delete them before they become a problem. I have a few in my current save but just mainly for background flavor; I rarely venture to Forgotten Hollow unless absolutely necessary (if I'm trying to complete the gardening or fishing collections).
I did have some issues with vampires early in my current save, but the Private Dwelling trait seems to have helped curb the invasions. Which is a shame in a way -- I put all the known vampires in the brown Yeti outfit for their dark form so I was hoping to see a Bigfoot invasion. :D (I might go back and use the alien type outfit from the acting career instead...)
I'm also a player not too much into Supernaturals. Except witches! I have a vampire save on my laptop that I play when I'm away from my desktop. Which isn't very often. :p I do love the clothing and objects that came with the pack.
I rarely play with them. Have a story line finally going now actually.. where I'm not killing them with a mod when I have that mod installed anyway :). Usually in my sim games where I don't want them to be part of it.. I just ignore everything. I ignore that they come to the door. I avoid meeting them ect... They are just in the background walking around at night and since I'm focused in the house or lot I usually don't even see them anymore. They do sometimes break in though, often I avoid that since my sims are up all hours of the night and might be engaged with an object that seems to block them. Sometimes I just take the bite on the neck and the sim feels bad the next day. I was most afraid that they could turn my sim autonomously.. they can't. There are also mods that turn them off but I don't mess with those. Oh it's also kind of fun to befriend some of them and then cloudgaze over and over in the daytime with them.. just for grins.
