To have, or not to have, Vampires

I got Vampires when it was 50% off, and I'm not really into vampires, but they're not very intrusive if you don't pursue them, like what others said. You might get the occasional break-in and you might meet the occasional vampire, but otherwise they don't really show up much.

ROFL...that got a laugh out of me. Do they sizzle and smoke like in TS3? I always got a kick out of keeping vamps occupied while under a sweltering sun in TS3, but haven't ever thought to do it in TS4 yet.

Yeah they start smoking.. then eventually catch on fire. I think they stand up when that's about to happen. I've done away with Vlad a few times like that @Stormkeep :)

I love vampires. Skilling them up to make them quite powerful is fun, and right now I am looking at how vampires interact with celebrities. It would seem celebrities, the higher level ones at least, are quite immune to the vampiric charm, alluring visage. But I did have one B-Lister fall under my vampire's charm, and that was after topping off the alluring visage trait. What makes it particularly challenging is the weak-minded paparazzi and fans that are almost always around, as they tend to snag the charm easily, and it would seem only so many sims can fall under the spell in an immediate area. I look forward to seeing what more abilities might bring into play versus celebrities. I fully expect to have a coven of high-listing celebrities at my vampire's command, without her even achieving any celebrity rank herself.
No celebrity is immune to the hypnotic trance used for other abilities, such as compelling for a drink, hallucination, and the like. But such acts do tend to mark you unfavorably. If you are going for a bad reputation, of course, then it is no issue. But it can be an added challenge when you want to go for a vampire with a good reputation. And reputation plays very strongly with vampires. My sim has been getting so many judgmental calls complaining about her taking plasma from sims against their will. Such whiners...
LGR's video is great, but I differ with him on occult sims. I love occult sims for what they bring to my game, and with the abilities celebrities bring, I count them as occult as well. They are a status separate from normal sims just as much as vampires and aliens.

I will never buy this pack and it’s unfortunate because there’s some interesting stuff in it.

I understand being a fan of vampires and all that but I think they’re out of place in the game.

I mean, I’m a fan of musical theatre but I wouldn’t want the players breaking into song and dance during the hockey game I’m watching tonight.

I love the vampire pack.
I don't have vampires in every save, generally, if you make no contact with them, and don't have your sims read about them, you won't have to worry about them... though sometimes, they may still visit. Vlad broke in, and cleaned up dirty dishes once.

I have the pack and got it only to both finish up the collection and because of, well. Vampires! Although I do want werewolves more /hint/hint

I also like the goth things that the pack brings and the new world/neighbourhood. I just wish it came with more lots. I really love the atmosphere that comes with this world.

Now, in the save that I mainly play in, the vampires are no problems except for a few breakins for bloodsucking. I haven't played the resident vampires yet, because I don't want to have a vampire until Morgan Fyres grows up to YA and her household is the only household that has done any research into the Vampires and bought the books. She hasn't befriended any of the vampires yet and I haven't seen any increase in vamp activity after I rotated out of that household.

I have found that if you leave the vampires alone they leave you (your Sims) alone but they are present and will show up on occasion at your doorstep (don't have to answer their knocking) and appear occasionally in a venue that your Sim goes to.
