I play with it on and control them. So while I am focusing on one sim my other sims can be doing whatever and I can bounce back and forth as needed. I try controlling the toddler too as you mentioned but some times the action just cancels for no reason or the adult sim still doesn't help, lol. I don't like playing with Autonomy off, I feel things get more interesting with it on. Sims will do some wacky stuff on their own, lol.
