All of the food in the game actually has a calorie count and some foods are higher in calories then others. The list can be found HERE unfortunately it hasn't been updated with like Dine Out or City Living items but some items (like the grilled fish dishes, fish & chips, & fish tacos) have no calories at all and won't make your sim gain weight (there's even a no-calorie cupcake for Sims with a sweet tooth).
I tend to find that just having a varied diet and throwing out excess cake is the best way to keep most sims at a healthy weight for their whole lives even without daily exercise. It also helps to wait until your Sim is actually hungry (ie their hunger bar is in the yellow or the red) before you have them eat also helps.
