Sims are more likely to curse when they're tense. For younger ones, you need to teach them better manners and emotional control to solve this. It hasn't been too much of a problem for me, or the messes. As long as your kids are on the active household, you can cancel these interactions before they happen. I will agree that it's annoying when non active household Sims make messes though. My kid's friends come over and are horrors. Still, even that isn't every five minutes, it's happened once or twice.
Even with out Parenthood when Sims were angry or tense they'd shout or stomp their feet. I haven't had a ton of angry/defiant toddlers unless they're independent, or another trait that includes defiance. As far as anger goes, sugar will make them angry.
