Townies & generic lots

I've never used the generic lot type but might need to soon.

Will townies show up at generic lots to the same extent that they do for other types of community lots?
  • Yes they will because I made a rock pool once with a cafe next to it and they still came and swam and went to the cafe.

That's good to know. I've noticed sometimes I'll assign a lot as a different type (ie, a bar) and include items that aren't lot type-specific, but that work with the overall design (such as a piano & microphone for live music), only to find sims completely ignore those items. In such a case a generic lot might be more suitable.
  • Yeah i think the generic lot types just our lots where sims show up and just do what they want on the lot so if you don't have too many things going on they likely won't reject any objects.

The only downside to generic lots is that you can’t assign them as club hangouts.

Good point, though I don't really play with clubs so that's not an issue for me.
  • I've never had another sim visit a generic lot. I have one in every world that is used as a B&B for when any of my sims want to explore another town for a few days. It gives them some place to stay and it feels like they are actually out of town on a trip.

Generic lots do not get visitors other than the Sims that travel with the sim you actively control.
    They're great for storytelling purposes.
