Townies life progression.

I found life outside my sims life to be pretty non-existent even with auto age and full sim autonomy. I downloaded mods to make it more realistic

Hi, what mod did you download? I don't typically download mods often because I find sometimes it slows my game, especially because I have CC as well. Appreciate the help.

In my first save, I married my spares out into premade households, and I think it may be possible that some of them had babies later without my prompting. Like, once or twice at most. I usually had them try for baby before the wedding party ended so most babies were because of that, but way back when the game was young I think there was a baby I couldn't explain.

The families you haven't touched at all will not change in any way, except to age if you have the game set to aging on for all sims.

I used to go into the Manage Households and just create children combining the genetics of sims who lived together to keep the townie/premade generations going if I liked the families enough.

MC Command Center (all of it) -deaderpool

I use MC Command Center. I think these are the most important things I've changed affecting the repopulation. Obviously you can change around other things like there being chance for sims to be in a same-sex relationship. Unfortunately, the townies will only have babies (adoption or biological, depends on how you change the settings) or get married (so, no proposals or girlfriends, just marriage)

MCCC > MC Pregnancy > Marriage Sim Selection > Marriage Percentage
(I set it to 10% so townies wouldn't constantly be getting pregnant)

I also have this set to 10% because I don't necessarily want people getting married all the time either.

Obviously the townies won't breed to have like 20 babies unless you change the settings (default limit is 3 children per household)

I also have made it so they only marry and have babies with sims within the same age group (so young adults won't end up having babies with elders) with these commands:
MCCC > MC Pregnancy > Partner Sim Selection > Use Same Age Group
MCCC > MC Pregnancy > Spouse Sim Selection > Use Same Age Group

Unfortunately, left to their own devices townies don't do anything except age and die. They don't have kids. If they even bother to go to work or school, they don't learn skills or progress. They don't take care of their pets or clean their house.
Story progression was only sort of implemented in this game, much to it's detriment. At least the lack of any progression in Sims 2 meant there were never sick pets or nasty houses. I'd rather have that then what we ended up with.

I loved Story Progression in certain times, but I'm a rotational player most of the time. So, I'd rather have them add SP in a pack/update, with a full customizable options menu, or nothing. Sims 3 SP is impossible to deal with, and you have to use hard mods to get things working. Its easier to deal with MCCC to make SP happen than it was on Sims 3 to use NRASS mods to stop the SP.

Just as a note:

Without using any mods, unplayed Sims will often change jobs, and if your played Sim work as a doctor, some Sims will become pregnant as dealing with pregnancy is part of that profession. But the babies have unknown/non-exsisting dads. Maike Haas once had triplets in my game, because my Sim worked as a doctor.
