I really, really want them to do stuff with social media in game. I think, obviously, cars and prom/high school graduations are really big omissions, but social media is a big one too. Especially since so many young people are on them.
I thought a lot about this. Sorry.
Also I’m on mobile so this format is probably a little ugly. Also sorry.
SimBook:
Could be in place of the memory system. SimBook can be Public- any sim can see it. Or they can be set to friends only or strictly private. The simmer can control it and which sims interact with it how ever they choose.
Memories would be integrated on the sim’s “wall,” but the in game social media aspect of it would be an optional feature that logs memorable aspects of the sims life: birth, death of family, birthdays, couplings (the term ‘Facebook Official’ is still going strong.) but there can also be optional aspects to spice things up.
Sims who are enemies with other sims can start online beef. Sims can battle it out, expose secrets online. Doing this can make the target embarrassed, angry, sad, etc. sims can pile in on any side or “post about what’s going on passive aggressively and take no side” doing so will affect how others see you in game. Sims friends will reach out and respond in various dramatic ways. Sims will text you to ask your side or to ask what’s going on- and will comment their opinions. Sims might text you one thing, but say something else online.
Sims can spread false rumors. If they’re exposed to be false, bad moodlet. If they succeed- evil or mean sims get a good moodlet.
If get famous is installed they can spread false rumors about celebrities or post selfies with them online. Sims can also attempt to “slide into celebrities dm’s.” If a sim is having an affair with a married celebrity, they can leak it online for bad notoriety, but higher fame points. Celebrities transgressions will be logged online by others and they’ll be an outrage feature that impacts how people will see the celebrity for a certain amount of time. If a celebrity is caught doing something embarrassing, Sims will laugh at them or react in disgust.
If a celebrity is a nice good celebrity like Keanu Reeves, positive posts will impact them in a good way, services will be free or reduced and relationships will be easier to maintain.
Sims who’ve had something embarrassing happen to them can choose to post about it online in a funny self deprecating way, and it can either work in their favor (which gives them a positive buff) or it can humiliate them further.
Rumors can be integrated and spread. Gossiping in game can now generate a text box with some actual gossip. If something scandalous or embarrassing happened in game, whatever the deed is is “saved in your drafts” which is a private log of all of the memorable things in your sims life in sequential order and labeled from “not a big deal,” “would be embarrassing if this got out, but not earth shattering” and “very bad.” When a sim hits the prompt “share a secret” you can select from the “drafts” the secret your sims shares. Depending on who you share it to, the rumor could spread.
You can also share good things with others or congratulate sims on what you saw on their SimBook for good moodlet and higher relationship points. You can also talk badly about other sims together, for higher relationship points, but expect it to go badly if ab online beef gets started!
-if autonomy is added by gurus in-game for others in the neighborhood, SimBook would log their autonomous actions- birth, death, marriage, and sims who don’t like each other will be made known to your sim.
Online Dating-
Sims can sign up for a dating app. I believe this a mod, but I don’t use them- so I think the feature should be implemented.
Sims can be catfished.
Sims have the option of using get together’s ask about other sim to inquire about their matches behavior in town.
Sims can SimBook Stalk their matches, depending on what they find they’ll be mad, sad, embarrassed, flirty, or tense. Especially if they find evidence of a sims past partners- they can feel insecure if their partner had a good reputation. Jealous sims can be jealous and perceive their matches SimBook friends as “threats.”
Sims can link their online dating to their SimBooks. They can post “flirty” posts to catch the attention of those they like, or to see who reaches out to them. They can also share selfies with flirty ambiance to do the same thing.
Which leads me to crushes-
Sims can choose to log their crush online. Which can impact their emotions depending on who their crush is and what they’re doing.
Teen Sims can ask their crush to prom, prom-pose, or post “sub-posts” to try and catch their crushes attention. If Parenthood is installed, Teen Sims can write about their crushes in their diaries and their siblings can leak that info online- to positive and negative consequences.
Simify-
Sims can log what songs they like on the radio and have their LYN-Z system play their playlists online. You can ascribe emotional buffs to different playlists and play them for emotional buffs.
