Base Game Update: Neighborhood Stories

I am very surprised at how much fun I am having with this pack. The new socials and the new animations are so fun. My Sim is a lovebug and that has some surprisingly funny quirks. The new career has you watch two hours of a Dating Channel, which made me laugh out loud. She went on her first blind date, and Father Winter was her date. They had an amazing time. I love the Mexico-inspired world, too, and had a lot of fun in CAS, which usually isn't my thing but real high heels and eyelashes!  All this good fun and I haven't even added my mods or CC back in yet!

That was finally a well organized and well spoken livestream in the grand old tradition. I love the world, the hot male outfits, the boundaries (wow!) and the curved pools.

I'm going to type my thoughts as I watch the stream. I had to stop part way through last night. So I'm finishing up this morning. 

I love the CAS items. The only one I'm not 100% sold on is the layered long sleeve top. I love the solids but I'm kind of meh about the patterns. That's just me in general. I'm partial to solids, real life and The Sims. 😁 

Ok, the catfish costume...what the.... I'm not sure how to feel about that one.😆 I love it and I'm sorta creeped out by it. 😛

Proper eyelashes! Yes! I love the button to add accessories to all outfits!! Yes yes yes!!! We've needed this from day one and now we have it! This feature alone makes the pack for me. 💗 Or maybe that's part of the base game update. I don't remember because as soon as they mentioned it I was up and dancing around my apartment. 😆

The attraction system is everything I was hoping for. 😁 I was worried it might be all about the superficial things. It's not and I couldn't be happier. I love how this pack adds some cool features that were inspired by Turbodriver's mods. I'm thinking of the 'survey the room' action. WW users know which feature I'm talking about. I've used WondefulWhims but even it was limited by the game. For those that want to keep using it, this will make that mod even better. Turbo can expand the attraction options. Or it will help you thin out your mods folder. Either way it's a win/win. 

I can't wait to see more about Ciudad Enamorada. For me, it has a real chance to be the best Sims 4 city world. I love San Myshuno and Windenburg, and this one is right there with them already. I'm in love with it visually. I love the greenery mixed with the vibrant colors of Mexico. I make no apologies that I think Chestnut Ridge is the most beautiful world in Sims 4. This one could be to cities what CR is to rural worlds. It's not hating on San My or Windenburg. They were made years ago and they represented the best The Sims 4 could be at the time. Ciudad Enamorada is the best of now. I'll have more thoughts about Ciudad Enamorada but I'll save them for that thread. 😁

The Love Wall! ❤️ I'm over the moon excited that one of my sims can publicly declare their love for another in this way. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted this option. Actually I wanted the option to leave offerings for romantic success, sort of like the offerings for academic success in DU. Close enough. 😁

I love the romance skill. My favorite story is centered around an aspiring young adult romance novelist seeking herself, her muse, and her soulmate. She's also sorting through her orientation. Is she straight, bi, or lesbian? Deep in her heart she knows the truth. But she has to discover and experience love to accept it. I'm in the process of setting up a story that goes back in time and shows her coming out process. And the journey her always out and proud partner takes that brings them together. This pack couldn't be more perfectly suited to bringing that to life. I can show their failed romances. I can show their search for, and discovery of, the one that true and purest love had chosen for them.

Cupid's Corner has so much customization. I'll never argue about having too many options for customization. I love that you have so much control over which sims are included.  

I really love the rounded bar. I've used the one from JtB and it fits in really well with so many builds, but I always know only so many simmers have that pack.  I can use this one without worrying that people won't have the item in their build mode inventory.

I love that we can chose the activities included in dates.❤️ And the date actions that let you move the date to another venue while it's in progress. That's a much needed add to the game. Raise your hand if you've ever scheduled a date in game and regretted the venue but you were stuck with it.👋

I love the new build mode items! Like the layered top in CAS, I'm not a big fan of the floral wallpaper. It's a bit heavy handed but it would be wonderful for a small wall section. I judge wallpapers on how they'd look for a full room.  I love that we're getting some new food stands. I love food trucks/stands so this is always a welcome addition. The new decals/posters/pictures look cool too. It's been done a million times, so here is a million and one, Yay! Curved pools! 😍

Since getting the pack, I haven't played much in the new world. But I have taken two couples through dating and engagement. This is definitely a pack that influences any love story you tell in any world you are in.

Most recently I took Miko Ojo through a journey of self discovery as she completed her serial romantic aspiration. This is NOT my favorite aspiration in the game, yet I was able to better tell the story of a young woman who enjoys flirtation who yet longs for the right person to settle down with. The questions you can ask to learn more about the relationship helped Miko decide why each "partner" was not right for her. 

Of course, being a fan of happy endings, just when Miko was ready to give up, her roommate turned out to be the right person all along.
