I saw something about it being required for promotion in the Noble Career: you have to interact with it to be promoted, since promotions are not automatic like they are in other careers.
I think the difference is that in this career you need to accept the promotion as opposed to the regular careers where you had not much say in it. Well, even there you could have boycotted promotions by not putting in much effort. Also, I read that children can inherit career title, but they can not work in it unless they are teens. So you can always delay career progress by just keeping them as children. Also, if the heir dies, so does the career progress if they do not have a heir yet. I think there will be lots of bad puffer fish incidents. I wonder how long it takes to progress through the different career levels.
