TS4U - Semester 1, Course 4: Hoarding 101

University Hub
Welcome to 'Hoarding 101'.

Collecting is an ever-present "side-quest" in both life, and The Sims. We accrue in order to create external spaces that match our internal interests, or to share those interests with others. This course's purview is to touch the little diamond button and curate a collection of information relative to what lies beyond it.

Shrewd Salesman
Sometimes "sharing" comes at a cost...to someone else.

  • The Simsonian Museum is an unseen contractor that takes certain collectibles from those with the "Appraiser" trait in exchange for simoleons. Which aspiration results in the aforementioned trait?

  • Archaeology Scholar
  • Academic
  • The Curator
  • Outdoor Enthusiast

  • As mentioned prior, the museum doesn't take just any collectibles. Which of the following is not one of its accepted collections?

  • Crystals
  • Aliens
  • Elements
  • Omiscan Treasures

  • The Simsonian doesn't give back a specified sum per item it receives. Instead, it gives back a random sum within a specific range, based upon the item's value. The ranges are: 100-300, 300-500, and 700-1,300. If you were to send a 'Pre-Pre-Pre Sim Head' (a fossil worth 225) to the Simsonian, what would be the most likely return for your donation?

    Baby Buy, Buy, Buy
Sometimes good things come to those who part with their pocket change.

  • Some collectibles are available online, some from containers that are bought, and some from vendors. Which of the following might be among those sold at the Flea Market in San Myshuno?

  • Space Rocks
  • Frogs
  • Harvestables
  • Fish

  • MySims figures aren't the most expensive collectibles, with its price range capping out at 140. Whilst they can be found whilst searching collectible spawns within the world, they can also be bought (loose) from table vendors. Of the 4 rare MySims, which is the most expensive?

  • Tobor (the robot)
  • Zombie Carl
  • Violet (the girl with the bat wings in her hair)
  • Goth Boy

  • Table vendors in San Myshuno sell a number of table-slottable collections from both Basegame and City Living. Other than the one at the Flea Market, where is the only other table vendor found?

  • Uptown
  • Spice Market
  • Myshuno Meadows
  • Arts Quarter

    Ya Dig?
One man's trash is another's buried treasure.

  • Dirt patches were introduced with 'Cats & Dogs', spreading like a plague across all worlds. They can replace basegame digsites and frog logs, but contain more than just collectibles. Which of the following can be found in a dirt patch if dug up by a sim?

  • Guppies
  • Cameras
  • Voodoo Dolls
  • Chew Toys

  • Ancient Omiscan Artifacts are found at archaeological digsites, in treasure chests, and throughout the various text adventures within the Jungle District. The 4 different artifacts (Masks of Khaas, Harvest Knives, Omiscan Vases, and Skulls) have 3 different rarities (Rare, Uncommon, Common). Whilst 3 of them only have 1 version per rarity, which artifact has 2?

  • Harvest Knives
  • Omiscan Vases
  • Skulls
  • Masks of Khaas

  • The Ancient Omiscan Artifacts have a 4th variant not listed in the 'Household Collections'. What is it called?

  • Counterfeit
  • Pristine
  • Diamond
  • Glass

    Every Nook And Cranny
    All the rest.

  • The feathers from 'Cats & Dogs' can be combined to create a statue known as the 'Sum Of All Birds' (in English). This statue is a nod to an entity in what pack?

  • Get To Work
  • Island Living
  • Snowy Escape
  • Realm Of Magic

  • Aliens (dead or alive) can be found by exploring space in a rocketship, touring Sixam, or whilst working as a Scientist at the Science Lab in Oasis Springs. How many are there (including both dead and living ones)?

  • 5
  • 6
  • 10
  • 12

  • What is a rare harvestable that can be found whilst exploring space in a rocketship?

  • Sixam Mosquito Trap
  • Cowplant Berry
  • Quill Fruit
  • Fang Flower

Sometimes "sharing" comes at a cost...to someone else.

  • The Simsonian Museum is an unseen contractor that takes certain collectibles from those with the "Appraiser" trait in exchange for simoleons. Which aspiration results in the aforementioned trait?

  • Archaeology Scholar
  • Academic
  • The Curator - 'Curator'..."museum".
  • Outdoor Enthusiast

  • As mentioned prior, the museum doesn't take just any collectibles. Which of the following is not one of its accepted collections?

  • Crystals
  • Aliens
  • Elements
  • Omiscan Treasures - The Simsonian is a basegame function, and was never updated to include past those collectibles found in basegame (dug up or found in space using the rocketship).

  • 125
  • 299
  • 431
  • 1012 - collectibles under 100 fall under the first range, between 100 and 200 fall under the 2nd, and those above 200 fall under the last, meaning that a collectible worth 200+ would be more likely to return between 700 and 1,300 simoleons.

8/12 Took a step back, but I'll call it a win because of the subject. One of my worst areas because I haven't done a lot with collectibles.

I figured this would be one of the harder ones. Collectibles are pretty much a background feature for a lot of simmers, I'd imagine.

It did, if I remember correctly, so the statue was effectively a blatant hint.
    • @KyreRoen It was. Afterwards there was the distinct aroma of burnt synapses lingering in the air.
    • @KyreRoen, are you maybe, a teacher in rl? Those are some great questions, some of which I did not know the answers to. I love it that I have played this game since release and I did not know about the stuff in the Arts Quarter. Ya learn something every day!

Nope, just another simmer. I'm glad you've learnt something new (some-things, per your words), and appreciate the feedback. :)

I would ask that you put the name of the neighborhood in spoilers (or change it to San Myshuno), but otherwise I hope you'll join for more.
