Nevermind the water, we've a leaky pipe somewhere. Regardless, the purview of this course is to dive headfirst into the many options available for creating a unique vision of a person, from head to toe, inside to out. Let's create a sim. CAS is in session.

  • 'Lookbook'

  • If one were to want a new pair of pants on one's sim, but leave everything else just the way it is, what should one do?

  • Hit the dice button at the bottom of CAS.
  • Hit the lightbulb button with the dice on it.
  • Hit the dice button at the top-right of the 'Bottoms' category, just under the outfit categories (everyday, sleep, etc.)
  • Hit the arrow button next to the dice at the bottom of CAS, unselect all categories except 'Clothing', then hit the dice button at the bottom of CAS.

    Who Are You?
    The non-aesthetic aspects of CAS.

  • Which of the following is not one of the 6 options for voices?

  • Brash
  • Lilted
  • Sultry - Sweet, Melodic, Lilted, Clear, Warm, and Brash are the 6 options currently available.
  • Sweet

  • Which of the following is not an option for likes/dislikes in the 'Activity' section?

  • Bowling
  • Swimming - Swimming falls under the "Fitness" activity.
  • Rock Climbing
  • Wellness

  • Which of the following was not one of the original 9 walkstyles?

  • Sluggish
  • Creepy - Creepy was added around the time of Vampires.
  • Snooty
  • Feminine

    Getting Ahead
Dealing with the head section of CAS.

  • What are the three sub-categories for hats?

  • Brimmed, Brimless, and Baseball Caps - Don't ask me why Maxis chose "Baseball Caps" as one of them.
  • Sunhats, Beanies, and Caps
  • Wide, Snug, and Fitted
  • Big Hats, Headscarves, and Small Hats

  • Which current sub-category of accessories contains nose rings?

  • Earrings
  • Jewelry
  • Adornments
  • Piercings - The current "Piercings" sub-category used to be called "Earrings", but was changed when other piercing types were introduced.

  • Which sub-category of CAS contains the 'Bindi' (forehead dot) item?

  • Makeup > Face Paint - The 'Bindi' is found in "Face Paint", and was added just before 'Fashion Street'.
  • Face > Skin Details
  • Body >Tattoos
  • Accessories > Piercings

    Somebody, Anybody
    From the neck down.

  • Which of the following tattoo locations does not currently exist for a sim?

  • Chest
  • Lower Back
  • Belly - Whilst there is a belly tattoo that came with the recent 4 new options, it is considered a chest tattoo.
  • Upper Back

  • Which of the following is not an adjustment one can make to the body (directly)?

  • Neck Depth
  • Posture
  • Feet Size
  • Hand Size - Hand size cannot be manipulated, and seems to only maybe change a bit with fat increase.

  • Which of the following adjustments to the fit/fat sliders will produce natural frown lines/creases on a sim's mouth?

  • Fat Increase - The added linings of a sim's body after fat increase include puffier cheeks, which come with frown lines, regardless of age.
  • Fit Increase
  • Fat Decrease
  • Fit Decrease

    The clothes make the sim.

  • Which of the following is not a sub-category of accessories for both toddlers and children?

  • Fingernails
  • Leggings
  • Toenails
  • Rings - Whilst toddlers don't have the "Toenails" category, children do. Both, however, do not have rings.

  • Maxis' curated "lookbook" for each pack is known as what?

  • 'Fashion Catalogue'
  • 'Maxis Picks'
  • 'Styled Looks'
  • 'Fash-sim Forward'

  • If one were to want a new pair of pants on one's sim, but leave everything else just the way it is, what should one do?

  • Hit the dice button at the bottom of CAS.
  • Hit the lightbulb button with the dice on it.
  • Hit the dice button at the top-right of the 'Bottoms' category, just under the outfit categories (everyday, sleep, etc.) - The dice buttons are all randomizers. The one at the bottom of CAS randomizes the selected general categories in the picker menu (found by clicking the arrow next to it). The lightbulb randomizer generates from the gallery. The dice button at the top-right of the current category only randomizes said category.
  • Hit the arrow button next to the dice that is at the bottom of CAS, unselect all categories except 'Clothing', then hit the dice button at the bottom of CAS.

11/12 Almost had it. This time there was no guesses. The one I missed I thought I knew it but I don't do much work with toddlers and children.

Wow, you really do know your CAS. I even tried to make sure there were a few in there that dug into things I thought no one noticed. Even learnt some things, myself.
    • @KyreRoen I spend a lot of time in there, it's my playground. I do a lot of gameplay but I still spend more time in CAS than most. I love the creativity it allows me. If I did more family gameplay I would have worked more with toddlers and kids and that one question wouldn't have tripped me up. Even though the rest of the test was a breeze, you remain undefeated. You still put up a question that falls in an area that I have little experience with.

No surprise here, lol. All my sims except for the downloaded ones have the same voice, because I have turned voices off.

Major peeve. Arts and Cooking have proper subcategories, but everything physical is lumped under the same header :s

I never knew this button existed, but I knew the other three didn't do what was asked for, so it had to be C. Learned something!

      @DaniRose2143
Y'know, I find my course-crafting reminiscent of my Repository entries. On the one hand, I like the feeling of knowing something or seeing something in a way someone else doesn't, but then again, I like giving that knowledge/insight/inspiration away. That's why they most often don't tackle things one could easily find elsewhere, or if they do, it's littered with extra information or documented as a playthrough idea, rather than a straightforward guide. Maybe you'll never need the information, but you have it nonetheless. It's like a memory-based sparring match, honestly.

I'm too introspective for my own good, sometimes.

      @EnkiSchmidt
I'll be honest- this course was made with @DaniRose2143 in mind, so maybe I did go a bit hard on this one. Still, you showed up to bat, did your best, and learnt something new. Awesome.
    • @KyreRoen Even though I breezed through the test, beside the one I got wrong there were a couple that I had to think it through for a second. The question about changing pants without changing anything else. I do changes like that frequently when I create a sim. I never would have thought to do it that way. I read through it a couple of times and quickly narrowed it down by process of elimination. I did get hit with some questions that were new, or like that example, doing an action I do dozens of times on a sim while I'm creating him or her in different ways. As you say, the answer showed me a new way to get there that I never would have thought to do otherwise.
