Uni if you already have a career?

Does it make sense to send a sim who's already an established doctor to uni? Will the get an advanced degree like a masters? More money? I sent him mainly because he bores me and need to give him something to do.

When they get a degree they can start a career branch at a high level (like, 6-8 depending on wether it's a distiguished degree and/or you got it with a high gpa) of whatever career branches that degree is good for (for example Biology degrees would give you a high doctor starting point, as well as maybe two or three other career branches). You also get a starting bonus (like, 7-8 grand) when you enter a career the degrees are good for (this resets every week).

It wouldn't make sense to send him unless you were changing careers. Edit: Stuff I didn't know about got added in the comment below, lol.

I personally feel like the rewards don't equal the amount of work you put into it, but the journey is fun (but kinda stressful if you try to do 4 classes each term, lol).

  • Yes, it makes sense. University degrees provide higher pay and easier promotions for the careers they go with. You might have to restart the career to see those benefits (not sure), but you'll restart at level 6 to 8 if you do, and get a signing bonus. Starting level is based on whether you have a distinguished degree and whether you got honors. Probably worthwhile especially if you're getting bored.

Ooh, do they get a higher wage at the same level as someone who didn't get a degree? I didn't notice that in my playthrough, lol.
  • Ok thanks for the info. I’ll make him quit, finish his degree and then rejoin the career.

Side note, didn’t doctors have to go into The community to immunize people? Or am I thinking of TS3? Cause I’m finding the doctor career pretty dull since I stopped following them to work after two play throughS to in Get To Work

Nope, you're right. Following Doctors to work in GTW you would sometimes get a task that lead you out of the Hospital to deal with an outbreak.
