The day after Winterfest, Kevin dropped by Zoe's house before work to meet her new son Wesley. He was a sweet kid. They watched cartoons. It was nice to see Zoe happy.
After work, Kevin had enough money for the house he wanted to bring his girlfriend to. If she wanted to move in. And if she liked the house.

Kevin's heart sank. He was already feeling tense from work and it was all he could do not to snap at her.
"Do you want to see one other house today?" she asked.

"This is more beautiful, and would suit a celebrity chef much better," said Mayumi.

It was a Spanish Revival style house with beautifully tiled floors and a big yard.

Kevin gave Mayumi a belated Winterfest present of an easel, and she gave him a microwave and an ice cream maker.

"Of course that's what I meant!" said Mayumi. "Nothing about your cooking abilities at all..."

Mayumi wanted the big balcony to be a place where she could be alone, paint, do her homework, and think.
Kevin had thought it would be a party deck.

Mayumi has one (other) secret... she actually isn't doing too well in school. We'll see if we can fix that. Turns out she has the painter aspiration, so an art degree would be worth it to her.
