How do people feel about no more global world in ts4 instead of like in 3? This is something I'm really not sure I like but want to know what other people think.
Many don't like that we don't have open world in TS4.
I'm probably one of the few that doesn't share that popular opinion. I don't mind no open worlds, but I don't like seeing the return of the Sims 1 neighborhood system again and maybe less than that seeing as there are not even ponds or terrain tools still so makes the game feel even more like a 2D game. I really liked how the world was in the Sims 2, then again it did have a create a world system with the help of SimCity. I would like to at least be able to edit neighborhoods again at least like the Sims 2 by picking our own lot sizes and locations and if I don't want a rock or tree somewhere or want to put in a trash can or bench I can. Both 2 and 3 used an external program available to make worlds. I don't think there really is an ideal world system for the Sims franchise yet. I actually like the idea of mathematics generating worlds like what Minecraft and No Man's Sky games do with their formulas. Spore was probably the first Maxis game that started using procedural generation in their games. "Advantages of procedural generation include smaller file sizes, larger amounts of content, and randomness for less predictable gameplay."
This is pretty cool too although it is a bit blocky in appearance like Minecraft:

For me I like to control my own population and I never did care for story progression. But I can see how world creators want to be able to design their own worlds too. I guess in the end Simmers just want to rule their games again instead having the game mechanics rule it for them. Like bring the sandbox experience back again to the franchise so there isn't limits to stories, colors, building, settings, and restrictive goals. I think with the Sims 4 starting off with the Sims Olympus roots had an impact how on the world was going to be designed for the online experience. Makes sense since small worlds would probably cause less lag on servers but then again SimCity 2013 had small world design too and had major server lags. I think my experience interacting with the community for the first time with this iteration is I don't think a multiplier experience would be a safe for the community right now, so my unpopular opinion is I'm glad that the Sims Olympus never got made. I hope an attempt like that is never done again for the franchise for the PC market. It does work well with the mobile versions and more cost efficient for Maxis that way.
