Vacations and teens

Next time you send your sim to vacation, please check how many vacation days your sim has left. Being on vacation means that sim spends his or her vacation days away from home. Once their vacation day count reaches zero, any day spent on vacation will damage your sims' work/school performance.
Also curfew. If your sim has set the curfew, the teens' and younger sims' responsibility will decrease while out during the curfew.

You can, you just need to have the teen call on their cell phone to take a 'vacation day'.

It won't work if sim has no vacation days left. You can check how many vacation days your sim got by looking in the work panel.
Vacation day is taken automatically when sims are on vacation unless they went on the vacation one hour before work or during the work time. Having sim call to work to take a vacation day takes a vacation day, meaning if your sim has none, they can't take any. Vacation days are gained by going to work/school. However, there are ways to take a day off without having to spend the vacation days:
1. If sim has Writing skill, they can write an excuse note to other sims' work/school to give them a day off. Only other sims can be excused.
2. If sim has high Mischief skill, they can call to work and fake sickness by choosing Play Hooky interaction.
3. If you have Get to Work expansion pack, sims can get sick from time to time. If your sim has an illness moodlet, they can call to work and get a day off. Children and teens automatically get a day off from school.
4. Also Get to Work ep feature, sims can excuse themselves with fake sickness, but it doesn't always work.
These were the ways sims can get a day off, meaning the performance bar won't drop and Responsibility value won't decrease.
