Vampire attack when sims are awake?

When a vampire appears on the lot, it will only break in and feed on sims if everyone is asleep, otherwise it will leave. I hardly ever have a fully asleep household when the vampire swings by, so I miss out on a lot of attacks. I don't think I can realistically train myself to send all my sims to bed by nine, and some households include non-sleeping entities anyway.

So my question is, are there any mods that allow vampires to break in and feed even if the resident sims are awake?

My sim is friends with Calab Vatore. Calob was visiting one day. he stayed a very long time. Well, they were dancing and suddenly Calab bit my sim and drank his fill. I have never seen that before so I was really surprised by it.

That was Thirst Desperation :) When their Thirst need drops too low, vampires attack the nearest sim no matter what. There's a power in the highest tier that prevents desperation attacks. I think it is required for the Good Vampire aspiration, but Caleb may not have unlocked it yet.

Although unexpected I was happy. I never stop a vampire from biting my sims. And depending what save I am in and how I'm playing sometimes if my sim gets bit I turn them and pretend the vampire bite did it.

I do something similar. If one of mine gets bitten I roll a die to determine one of several outcomes, the sim being turned as one possibility, of course. :)
  • I sometimes roll for possible death, it depends on the save. Sims need to roll higher than the sum of their uncomfortable moodlets - the one from the bite already is +2.

I remember before they "fixed" the invasion feature.

I wonder how many actually remember the community lot invasions vampires used to do, which prevented anyone from leaving the neighborhood, and they never actually bit anyone. That was annoying.

I wonder at what point in fixing that did they screw up the home invasions?

I actually remember that. I was ready to go back home when I suddenly couldn't. Build and buy was also disabled because of the vampire invasion.

I had home invasions happen post-fix. I just had to send all sims to sleep. Sometimes I do think that everytime a vampire knocks on the door at night, it's because the game failed to launch a break-in because some of the sims were awake.

Still, I remember a great tale I got from it. An old couple went sleeping and then a vampire broke in and drank from the husband. So the wife learned some vampire lore, tracked that vampire down, and challenged him to a fight. In the end, the old lady won the fight against the vampire.
