I'm disappointed pets won't be able to die if the house catches on fire. It'll be highly unrealistic if the house burns down, all the sims die, and the pet is just standing in the flames. Even kids can die in fires.
I'm almost certain there are no other buy mode objects, including pet beds. That was the "show all" option they were using in buy mode.
I'm glad that pet are NOT allowed to be crush, drown, or set fire, because it would desensitizes players to animal cruelty!
I DO wish that pets could die by illness, because it would teach players to be a more responsible pet owner!
"What's that? Noodles died because you bought a stereo instead of taking him to the vet? Well then you don't need to own a pet! Maybe you should try gardening instead!"
So the ability to kidnap and kill sims in a variety of creative ways and set kids on fire desensitizes players to kidnapping, murder and child abuse? That logic is highly flawed.
I'm also not talking about setting them on fire on purpose for entertainment(I'm mostly thinking story points). People playing this game are suppose to be 13+, their morals should already be mostly developed. If they are so easily influenced by a game they should not be playing it.
I couldn't help but notice you used "should be" in that post...
For some reason, some people believe the life of an animal is worth less than the life of another person. A life is a life, and both are precious.
When I was working at the vet clinic, we had a guy come in with a kitten (just weaned from mama cat's milk), asking to have her euthanized. Why? She was the runt of the litter! Nothing physically wrong, not sick, just small. She was part of a Bobcat/Domestic Short-Hair litter that he'd sale for big money. Being the smallest, she wouldn't have made him any profit. So that was why he brought her in. I was told to take her to the back (where the kennels were) to be put down later in the day. As I took her, we just connected, and I
HAD to have her! I remember begging the guy (with tears in my eyes) if I could have her. Thankfully he agreed as long as she was spayed. She was with me for 21 years (until 2013), when she developed breathing issues.
The guy had no idea what a wonderful cat he'd almost killed. He was only in it for the money.
Years later when I worked at the SPCA animal shelter, we had lot of Pit Bulls come in. Some were due to apartment regulations (yes, Pits are against the rules in some apartment complexes), and the owner was moving in and had to get rid of their dog.
Others (very sadly) were fighting dogs that were seized by Animal Control. These were the ones that really broke my heart. All they knew was fighting and would never make a family pet. As a result, they'd be brought in, for a couple of days, until they'd be taken away to be euthanized.
Their lives were ruined by people who didn't value their life, only the money from betting who's got the better fighter.
You say my logic is flawed? I don't think it's flawed.
ALL life is precious! And before you say it - I know THESE are just pixels, but that's where it starts.
