I would love it to have more things to do with it. Maybe you could make a Sim an Occult with it, if you have the packs for that option, maybe you can do good things ( as some can be used to help not always hurt) like help them gain a random skill gain like the wishing well can ( and potions in Sims 3) and maybe it could have more good and not so nice options available.
You can have a chance to blackmail sims thru wishing well, you can with bugs in Strangerville pack, maybe you could with the voodoo doll. Maybe you could also cause other Sims to get marked for other Sims they meet to become instant enemies or other things, like you can with some spellcaster spells.
There are so many things come to mind, I think I would use it if it had more options, I tend to forget about it.
