I know in that James' video he also had set the lot trait to filthy (and let it get pretty filthy before starting to address it) also and had multiple floors with multiple bunnies. Then he acted shocked that it was hard to clean or keep on top of cleaning. I'm not sure many of would play that way generally. I haven't yet. I've only had one day where it was hard for my sims to clean a 4 story house after school/work and I think two of the reasons for that was that I neglected it for two days, and I let an attic space (with no access) get into a filthy state (with a filth fiend).
I haven't played with the bunnies other than to step on them or vacuum them up in multiple households and I haven't noticed money dropping. I did have a neat sim talk to a bunny in his small house (he didn't name or friend it) he got about 200 and one rare metal from the bunny in three separate gifts before vacuuming it up.
I'm not saying it doesn't need tuning. I think it does... I'd prefer not to have dropped money at all from the bunnies, but to get presents when you ask them directly. They could turn down how fast dirt accumulates too. It would be nice to have about 3 days between having to vacuum (although not sure how that should reflect on large families or homes). I'd hate for my single sims living in a small home to have to a week to have anything to do. Then again if it makes me utilize the filthy lot trait... I'd be just okay with that as a work around.
My biggest issue with the pack is that butlers can't be ordered to clean the dust. They will do so autonomously when gifted a vacuum but there is not an option to tell them to clean.. if they seem to be missing an area. Butlers have options to cook food, garden ect... so I would think they should have one to clean dust.
I'm also not seeing crazy autonomous cleaning either but I do play with autonomy off on my played sim and sometimes the ones that aren't in my control are cleaning. I gave up fighting with my played sim a long time back and have been much less frustrated with my game since then.

I just did a little test. Put a lazy slob sim in a house, took away all her money and just watched.
First day she got 2 bunnies, didn't interact with them and got 100 simoleons in 24 hrs. She also made 1 meal so it was a tad more.
Second day I removed all money. She had 3 bunnies and got 71 simoleons in 24 hrs. had 2 meals and fed 2 bunnies. Floor was dirty.
Third day removed money. Floor became filthy and dust bunnies vanished. No money given.
I have no dtb mods installed and I did nothing but watch on fast speed.
I honestly have no idea how people are getting 80k per night without doing anything.
It might have something to do with speeding up or if you befriend the bunnies, James Turner got quite a lot of money when his sim was sleeping. There is also the problem that the bunnies will give you presents and in the loot table there are items that are worth a lot of money like the Jungle Adventure items.
For all we know it could have something to do with your sims and how large your house is as well.
My house was smaller than James'. I only furnished to what she needed to function. She is a lazy slob sim and I did not befriend the bunnies I just observed. James had his game on fast speed also. Only difference being he fed and asked them to find things.
Just doing nothing got me basically nothing and if people do not want anything from them why interact with them at all and risk getting something substantial from them. Why not just step on them or vacuum them and move on?
I did another test. Different sim. This one was neat.
She befriended one bunny and had another two on high happiness. Had her feed and and ask for thing as often as I could. She started the weekend (Friday morning) with 11k simoleons. Monday morning she has 37k. Gifts ranged from upgrade parts and food to crystals and metal. I did have a few JA gifts for around 8-10k. Still not seeing 80k per night just by random money gain.
