We shuldn't judge this as Superstar 2 ?

I agree. Harsh judgments are being made about this pack, when we have relatively little information about it yet. I doubt the two blog posts so far have revealed every detail and nuance of the pack already.

I don't think OP has problems with simmers not liking the pack as much as they do people making assumptions/ comparing to super star when it hasn't been released yet :)

People make assumptions based upon the information known so far. We do it all the time. That’s what the speculation forum is for right? I don’t think it’s inappropriate to compare 1 pack to another if they have the same common theme.

You do have a point about assumptions. I personally am undecided on whether I'm getting this pack yet, I probably will make my decision once we see what the fame system looks like.

I will keep having expectations if I’m paying 40 bucks of my hard earned money on a pack, thank you very much.

I’m hoping the movie and fame and reputation stuff is worth the money and makes up for not including other fame careers with equipment and content like modeling and stuff like that.

Sims 4 has the number 4 in its name—it’s a sequel! So it SHOULD be better than the previous games.

If they didn’t want us simmers to have expectations then they shouldn’t have put a number on it.

Other good video game companies with games that have sequels usually take the feedback and criticism about their past games and improve on their sequels. That’s how it works.

Trust me, fans of other video games can be soooo much harsher on the sequels of other video game franchises, and I don’t think I myself was that harsh.

I’m still willing to have an open mind and wait for more info. I’m interested in seeing the fame and reputation systems in particular. (And the new world!)

This pack is called Get Famous. It's the same theme that Superstar and Late Night had. But Late Night put Nightlife and Superstar together. I think it's a fair game to compare them, they are in the same space after all, that of being a famous superstar.

This pack focuses on being a movie star only, but the fame system works with all previous packs and probably future ones. Honestly they haven't said anything about an influencer career only that they made an active acting career. I think that's just part of being famous in the game, and for example, influence what other sims wear.

Yah, thats why im withholding judgment. To me this is not Superstars 2 , So to me getting upset that its not exactly like Super star.We still dont know much about thefane system .

I've read an opinion by another player that this EP is a cross between Superstar and Showtime! I never played the original Sims, so I have no knowledge of what Superstar offered. I did, however, love Showtime --- at least the singer part of things. I did dabble in the other two careers offered, but they just weren't my thing.

Well yes and no. I think initial reactions are fine but final judgments should be reserved for when we have all the information.

And while yes you are right there is never a mission statement on the store page saying "the spiritual successor to sims superstar". It is definitely inspired by superstar and shares quite a few similar features. Which is a good thing. Considering a lot of us have wanted things like acting, modeling, music recording etc. back in the sims for awhile. They are both very similar and I think the comparison is fair.

Yes. Although it's very wrong to say this is anything like Showtime.

Showtime was about singers yes, but it was also about magicians and acrobats. Basically it was a pack focused on performing on stage and there were 3 different careers that allowed sims to do so. The pack didn't have acting nor a celebrity system, nor bands, Late Night had.
